00:00 Usually, you'd see huge people down the street lining up to get their hands on a classic East End bagel.
00:05 But not today, as one of London's iconic bagel shops is very suddenly shut under mysterious circus starters.
00:11 Brick Lane Bagel Shop has been in business for over 150 years and is considered an institution in London's East End.
00:17 So why on earth would this lauded and loved bakery ever close?
00:20 Well, posts on social media have claimed that a written possession order was found taped to the front door.
00:25 Now this is where it all gets a bit weird. If you go to the shop now, no such sign exists.
00:29 Instead, taped to the front door, you'll find a notice from the owners claiming the shop has closed temporarily in order to conduct electrical maintenance.
00:36 This isn't the first time that a bagel shop has shut under mysterious circus starters.
00:40 Back in 2014, the shop closed due to an alleged family dispute, but was back open and flogging bagels within a matter of days.
00:46 This bagel shop is a London institution and a pillar of the East End. Its closure will likely hit the community hard.
00:51 I consider it the best bagel shop in London, certainly in East London.
00:55 And yeah, if it does close permanently, I'll be a bit upset, probably.
00:59 I think it's just, you know, that growing up, that kind of nostalgia and growing up with one particular bagel shop that you sort of identify with.
01:07 I think it's a shame because they've always been here kind of side by side.
01:10 These places are changing. I mean, you expect East London to change as you get a new influx of, you know, sort of different cultures.
01:18 But I think the Brick Lane Bagels, you know, it is sad to see anything that's been here a long time going.
01:23 Hopefully, despite all the mystery and scaring notices, this bagel shop will magically reopen, no questions asked, like it did a decade ago.
