00:03 Sunday night at 8 o'clock Eastern, we're gonna see the old East versus West,
00:06 reminds me of Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird.
00:09 Why are the West three-point favorites in this game?
00:12 I guess that would be my question.
00:13 Not that I'm interested in betting on this.
00:15 I know the NBA's All-Star games usually go over the total, but
00:19 they placed it so high this year.
00:20 It used to be like 310, 315, 361 is the total in this game this weekend.
00:26 But I guess you can explain to me why the West would be favored,
00:29 because I have no idea.
00:29 >> I guess my best answer is somebody has to be favored.
00:34 Yeah, I have no idea either.
00:36 These games can't really predict what's gonna happen because the defense is just
00:42 totally non-existent.
00:43 These guys are basically trying to get through the game without getting hurt.
00:46 >> Okay, all right, quick and easy.
00:50 [LAUGH] All right, the NBA All-Star game MVP.
00:54 Let's take a look at the graphic here, we'll run through the names.
00:56 Now, LeBron is always gonna be in the picture here,
00:59 cuz if he has even a decent game, he'll win this thing.
01:01 7-1, Giannis is 6-1, Steph Curry 8.5-1, Jason Tatum 9-1,
01:08 Anthony Edwards is 10-1, and then Damian Lillard pops up here at 10-1 as well.
01:14 So, Steph, when you look at this,
01:16 is it just simply about playing a story or playing a narrative?
01:20 Like if LeBron had a great game, you would give it to him.
01:23 If Steph Curry had a great game, maybe he would be on the side of it.
01:26 And clearly here, what I'm looking at is a lot of guys in the West that
01:30 are at the top here.
01:31 So, who do you like?
01:32 Do you like anyone going into this?
01:34 >> I mean, it's definitely a narrative-driven award.
01:38 You're certainly right about that.
01:40 LeBron, if he has a good game, like you said, he's probably gonna win.
01:43 The problem is, I believe he's 39 years old at this point,
01:47 like 19 or 20 All-Star games for him.
01:49 So you have to wonder how much he's really gonna exert himself,
01:53 especially because the Lakers really need him.
01:55 Yeah, they're struggling to break past this play-in territory range.
02:00 So, I mean, if I had to pick a player, I would probably go with Steph Curry,
02:03 who has just been on a tear recently.
02:05 He had a game the other night where he went 6-for-6 from three,
02:10 made his first seven threes.
02:11 Last night, I don't know if you saw this, there was a viral highlight going around
02:14 of him hitting a three-pointer from the tunnel before the game.
02:19 So yeah, just the way that he's been playing recently, he's back to top three,
02:24 top four player over the past couple weeks of the season, I would go with him.
02:29 - Okay.
02:30 Now, the three-point contest is going to be highlighted by a player from the home
02:34 squad, or at least the team that's hosting the event.
02:37 Tyrese Halliburton has decided to play in the three-point contest.
02:40 And you can see FanDuel is on this one because he's plus 440 right there among
02:45 the favorites, followed by Damian Lillard, Trey Young, Malik Gleasley,
02:49 Jalen Brunson is 7-1, and Karl-Anthony Towns actually in there at 7-1 as well.
02:54 So the fans are going to be cheering on Tyrese Halliburton.
02:56 It doesn't always work out this way, Steph, but that's who they would
02:59 like to win, there's no question.
03:00 - Yeah, I think Halliburton is a decent bet.
03:05 You know, one thing I like to look at for this contest is pull-up three-point
03:08 shooting instead of just straight catch and shoot because you are, you know,
03:13 moving a little bit when you're getting the ball off the rack.
03:16 So Halliburton is a great pull-up three-point shooter, one of the best
03:19 in the league.
03:20 You know, Dave won this contest last year, but he has not been shooting the ball
03:23 particularly well.
03:24 It's been kind of a down year as far as three-point shooting.
03:28 The guy that I would pick, call me a sucker for the underdog story,
03:31 is Karl-Anthony Towns just because he has won this contest before previously.
03:35 I'm kind of surprised to see him with the worst odds here.
03:40 And, you know, he's having a great season for the Wolves.
03:42 He's probably, you know, he would say that he's the best shooting big man
03:46 of all time.
03:47 I think there's actually some validity to that statement just because he is a good
03:50 pull-up shooter, like I mentioned.
03:52 He's just a good general three-point shooter.
03:54 So I think at that price, he's a pretty decent bet.
