00:00 I'm at Carrington where this afternoon Eric Ten Hag held his pre-match press
00:04 conference ahead of Sunday's Premier League game against Luton. It was a
00:07 press conference that centered around two main topics the first being injuries
00:11 and Ten Hag confirmed that Luke Shaw might not be available for Sunday's game.
00:15 He was replaced at halftime in the Winniver Villa last Sunday. Ten Hag said
00:19 at the time it was just a precaution but speaking today he's revealed that he is
00:23 a doubt and might not be involved. I think he said he's hopeful that Shaw will
00:26 play some part at Kenilworth Road but certainly not sure at this stage but he
00:30 did confirm that Aaron Wan-Bissaka won't be involved. He said that he's going to be
00:33 out for a couple of weeks with a new injury actually. He's missed him. He
00:37 hasn't played since the middle of January due to injury but has suffered a
00:40 fresh problem and is therefore not going to be involved against Luton. Mason Mount
00:44 also out as well as Tyrell Malasiak. Both of those not going to be back for a
00:47 couple of weeks Ten Hag said and obviously long-term absentees for United
00:52 in addition to Lissandra Martinez and Anthony Martial also being out. But there
00:56 was also a lot of talk from a United perspective about the new sporting
01:01 director who potentially could come in. Dan Ashworth is obviously of interest to
01:05 Manchester United and there's been no official approach yet from the club but
01:08 Ten Hag was asked not necessarily by Ashworth but about in general Ineos and
01:13 the organisation and the direction that is going as they begin to make plans for
01:16 what's going to be a new Luke Manchester United in potentially just well actually
01:20 just next week actually. He said that it is important in his eyes that everyone
01:24 is kind of aligned all singing from the same hymn sheet I suppose and he
01:30 spoke about the importance that he really feels that he is happy with the
01:34 direction that is going with Ineos. He's pleased with the role he's playing and
01:38 everything he's hearing from Ineos. At the same time was keen to point out that
01:42 a sporting director doesn't fall under his mandate. Not something that he's
01:45 going to be working on and have a huge input on. It's going to come from Ineos
01:49 but he also said that as I say he's happy and it's starting to have an impact
01:53 and rub off on the players but he did kind of suggest the players also need to
01:56 to buy into this which I think certainly they have been recently and just keep
02:00 the good performances going on the pitch. In terms of the game against Luton
02:04 United go there in sixth place in the table, five points of Villa in fifth,
02:09 six points of Spurs who are in the Champions League places so it's
02:14 another important game as United hope and aim to close the gap to those
02:17 Champions League chasing side. Big match as always for United this weekend.
