00:01Matej Munez was the unlikely hero for Manchester City as they defeated Aston Villa 2-1 in the Premier League
00:08to climb to third in the table and move a step closer to Champions League qualification.
00:14It was a tense and edgy, nervy game here at the Etihad, one in which City were the better of the two sides
00:20but one in which it felt like it was going to be destined for a draw.
00:25Marcus Rashford hit the post after just 18 seconds to remind City of the threat that Villa posed.
00:30But it was the Blues who took the lead with Omar Marmouche cutting from the left-hand side.
00:35His deflected cross fell into the path of Bernardo Silva and his effort was squeezed beyond Amelio Martínez to give City the 1-0 lead.
00:44Villa responded well though and they had a penalty. Ruben Diaz with a foul in the box.
00:48City complained and after a lengthy VAR check it was finally given.

01:05It was a tense and cagey game and yeah the first half was pretty level between the two teams
01:10but in all honesty City came out of the blocks the better of the two sides after the restart.

01:20Although he will not know how he missed a following opportunity when a cross came in and he totally missed kicks.

01:33but in the end it was about Jeremy Doku and the cherished Nunez.
01:37In the dying minutes of the match, Doku the substitute raced down the left-hand side.
01:42He produced an excellent outside-of-the-foot cross towards the back post and there was Nunez.
01:46Up until that point, maybe the villain for City on the point, even for his display, he turned into the hero
01:52with an emphatic finish at the back post.
01:54A euphoric moment for City and a moment that puts him into the driving seat now for Champions League qualification.
