Play For Today - Cries from a Watchtower (1979) (Part 1)

A Play For Today episode from 1979, Cries from a Watchtower tells the story of a young watch mender who sells watches on his market stall, following on a family tradition. He discovers that his girlfriend is pregnant, but his attempts to provide for her and his upcoming child are hindered by the rise of cheaply imported digital watches, and threatens to destroy his business and entire livelihood.

Starring Paul Copley, Anita Carey, Betty Alberge, Bernard Strother, Cassie McFarlane, Stan Stennett, Vincent Marzello, Judy Liebert, Raymond Mason, Harry Markham, Hugh Martin, Ann Dyson, Ted Carroll, Penny Smith, Peter Martin and Julia Watson in one of her earliest screen appearances before finding fame in Casualty, appropriately here as a nurse. This is from one of the videos I had saved from Mick's Nostalgia Channel on Youtube to watch later before it sadly disappeared, so you have him to thank for this. It's quite a far sighted drama, with it's look at the rise in technology that is ever more revalent today. By the way, please note that this drama does contain some nudity.
