Silas Marner (1985) (Part 2)

  • last month
A respected weaver loses all faith in life when he is wrongfully accused of theft and loses all that he holds dear. He becomes a virtual recluse in the village, but one night he discovers a baby abandoned on his doorstep and takes it in. He begins to feel some purpose in his life as he brings the child up, but years later a revelation sees Silas face losing all that he holds precious...

Starring Ben Kingsley, Patsy Kensit, Jenny Agutter, Jim Broadbent, Jane Freeman, Patrick Rycart, Freddie Jones, Jonathan Coy, Rosemary Martin, Angela Pleasence, Robert Putt, Tony Caunter, Frederick Treves, Melinda Whiting and Nick Brimble. This was originally broadcast on TV on December 30th 1985, and is from an old bought video tape I had which I found in a charity shop some years ago. Please note that because of this there may be some glitches or picture quality issues, but it is a TV adaptation that I don't think has been repeated since it's broadcast in Xmas 1985. This was an adaptation of the George Eliot novel, which was published in 1861.
