00:14 Can we start?
00:16 *music*
00:18 Yeah.
00:20 *music*

00:26 *music*
00:32 Welcome to the Run Through of Vogue, Victoria.
00:34 We are so excited to have you.
00:36 And I want to know, welcome to New York.
00:38 What do you pack when you're traveling?
00:40 Oh my gosh.
00:42 I pack a lot. I like to have options.
00:44 Why does that not surprise me?
00:46 I like to have options, so quite a lot.
00:48 Because you never know what you might need.
00:50 Do you plan your outfits ahead of time?
00:52 That was, I have to say, one of my favorite moments
00:54 of the groundbreaking documentary.
00:56 Well, thank you.
00:58 Beckham. And I loved that
01:00 Daybridge plans his outfits a week in advance.
01:02 Do you have the same thing happening in your closet?
01:04 You know, I do. I like to make sure that I have
01:06 all eventualities covered.
01:08 So, yeah. I do.
01:10 I like to be quite organized.
01:12 But have options, for sure.
01:14 Do you work with anyone to do that?
01:16 Do you have a stylist?
01:18 No, no, no. I never work with a stylist.
01:20 Other than when I'm doing the show.
01:22 You know, it's just me.
01:24 You started the clothing line,
01:26 Victoria Beckham, in 2008. Why?
01:28 What was the original
01:30 thought bubble?
01:32 You know, I think it's always been a passion
01:34 and a dream
01:36 that became a reality.
01:38 And did you feel like you had to
01:40 prove yourself or change in any way
01:42 to be taken seriously as a fashion designer?
01:44 No. No. I think that there was
01:46 a naivety back then.
01:48 You know, if I had known
01:50 now,
01:52 then, that's the right way,
01:54 I might not have had the courage to do it.
01:56 But, you know, there was a naivety that was
01:58 that had a sense of freedom
02:00 about it.
02:02 Was there one moment you can think of when you felt like,
02:04 "Oh, I've made it as a designer.
02:06 I am a designer now and people,
02:08 the world is watching."
02:10 After my first show in Paris,
02:12 I felt very proud, very accomplished.
02:14 And I felt that
02:16 I have worked very hard over the years
02:18 to earn my place there
02:20 and earn the right to
02:22 feel that I deserve
02:24 to be there.
02:26 But I feel that I have to continue
02:28 to prove to myself,
02:30 not to anybody else, you know.
02:32 I was always quite aware that people might have
02:34 preconceptions. And even when
02:36 I first started, it always had to
02:38 be about the product.
02:40 What is your process like now? Like, how many collections
02:42 are you working on? What is the day-to-day?
02:44 So, four collections a year.
02:46 Two main collections, two pre-collections,
02:48 and obviously we have
02:50 accessories and everything else
02:52 that goes on, collaborations that
02:54 we might be working on.
02:56 Who is the dream person to wear your clothes?
02:58 Oh my gosh. I would love to dress
03:00 Cate Blanchett. Oh, wonderful.
03:02 I do. I love her. Wonderful.
03:04 That feels doable. That would be a dream.
03:06 That would be a dream.
03:08 If you're not wearing Victoria Beckham, who are you wearing?
03:10 You know, maybe a little bit
03:12 of vintage. I actually really
03:14 love what goes around, comes around
03:16 when I'm here in New York. Being in
03:18 London, we have so many great vintage
03:20 stores, so I love to
03:22 you know, potter
03:24 around and find those hidden
03:26 gems. Wonderful. What's the last great vintage
03:28 piece you bought? Gosh.
03:30 Well, I do like to collect
03:32 vintage denim, so that would probably
03:34 be when I'm here. Victoria, I do feel
03:36 like the
03:38 documentary that came out this fall
03:40 was just a seismic event
03:42 for the culture world. I feel like
03:44 everyone sort of stopped and couldn't
03:46 talk about anything else. Did you expect
03:48 that it would be that reaction? We were
03:50 thrilled by the reaction
03:52 because I think when you do something like that
03:54 it can go one of two ways.
03:56 We were very honest
03:58 and I suppose that puts
04:00 you in a position where you feel
04:02 a little vulnerable,
04:06 right? But it
04:08 was quite
04:10 the experience and I think to be
04:12 in the hands of a fisher
04:14 who is someone that we really
04:16 admire and respect.
04:18 You have to trust and I think
04:20 it was a time where we were just
04:22 really, really honest and I think when
04:24 you feel honest and when you're being honest
04:26 that can make you
04:28 at your most vulnerable and it was very
04:30 real. It was, you know, there was no
04:32 holding back.
04:34 Well, I have to say my biggest takeaway
04:36 from it was the Beckhams
04:38 are all about family. Well, and also
04:40 the sort of weird cooking shed
04:42 which I also love. Don't tell him you called it
04:44 a shed. It's
04:46 a very fabulous tent.
04:48 It's beautiful.
04:50 But I'm curious about
04:52 what does the
04:54 Beckham family group chat look like?
04:56 Well, I think it was Harper actually
04:58 that set the chat up.
05:00 And we all like to really participate.
05:02 You know, we're a very close family
05:04 and we really value each other
05:06 and time together. We like to
05:08 even when we're traveling make sure that we're all
05:10 communicating regularly.
05:12 Does it have a name? I think
05:14 it's not as interesting as you might think.
05:16 I think it's like Beckham family chat or something
05:18 like that. What's your most
05:20 used emoji?
05:22 Probably the
05:24 crying emoji where we're laughing.
05:26 The cry because
05:28 everybody in the Beckham family does have
05:30 well, I think we're all really funny
05:32 especially me. Like really
05:34 funny like comedy value, right?
05:36 I would like to think.
05:38 How often are you talking
05:40 on the phone to your kids or seeing them?
05:42 A lot. A lot. A lot.
05:44 Myself and David like to
05:46 not travel at the
05:48 same time. So one of us can always be
05:50 home with Harper. She's the only one who's
05:52 still at home. She is. You know, Cruz
05:54 he travels a lot and
05:56 Romeo has his own place right now
05:58 and Brooklyn lives
06:00 in LA.
06:02 Me and David like to not be away at the
06:04 same time. One of us likes to be at
06:06 home doing the school run.
06:08 You know, all those kind of things. I know I have to say
06:10 seeing Harper as an
06:12 almost adult made me feel old.
06:14 I remember sitting next to her at one of your
06:16 fashion shows and she was picking her nose as
06:18 a four-year-old. I know. But there was that
06:20 iconic image of Harper
06:22 sitting next to Anna.
06:24 I think she had the same hair. She had the
06:26 bob like Anna.
06:28 The only difference was is that Harper had
06:30 an entire fist up her nostril.
06:32 Yes. Thankfully Anna
06:34 was not picking her nose but
06:36 Harper was but they had, you know, matching
06:38 hairstyles. Well, I
06:40 wonder, now that you have kids
06:42 who are adults and mostly, I mean
06:44 three sons who are adults,
06:46 do you have advice for them as they
06:48 sort of enter dating or for
06:50 Brooklyn as a young
06:52 married person? I think
06:54 you just got to be there for them. You know, I think
06:56 communication is key and
06:58 be there to support them,
07:00 support him and Nicola and
07:02 I don't like to offer advice.
07:04 I think I'm always just there. Me and David
07:06 were always just there. Are you
07:08 excited to be a grandmother? Is that going to happen soon?
07:10 Oh, Jesus! What?
07:12 Woo!
07:14 Hang on. I don't think
07:16 it's happening just yet. Unless you guys
07:18 know something that I don't, it's not
07:20 happening just yet. I just
07:22 I got married in my
07:24 late 20s and to me I was not ready yet but
07:26 immediately my mother was ready for that
07:28 to be next topic of conversation.
07:30 The last time I was with Anna, I was like,
07:32 "Anna, what do your
07:34 grandchildren call you?" And she said to me,
07:36 "Anna."
07:38 Yeah, I know. And I was like,
07:40 "Well, that is very elegant so maybe
07:42 I'll take that route." Yes, yes, exactly.
07:44 But it's not happening just yet.
07:46 But, you know, hopefully one day if I am
07:48 blessed, then
07:50 that would be wonderful. But we're not there
07:52 just yet.
07:54 It's hot. Guys, it's hot in here.
07:56 What's happening?
07:58 Is it different being a mother-in-law than
08:00 a mother? Or is that... I don't know.
08:02 You know, I think Nicola is wonderful
08:04 and I think that she is so
08:06 talented. She's so passionate about what
08:08 she does.
08:10 And her and Brooklyn make each other super
08:12 happy and that is wonderful
08:14 to see. As a mother, all you want is
08:16 for your kids to be happy,
08:18 right? That's everything.
08:20 I know Nicola has her film premiere this
08:22 weekend for "Hemring." Are you
08:24 dressing her? Are you going? I am dressing
08:26 her and I will absolutely be there.
08:28 I'm very proud to be there. She's worked
08:30 so hard. I have to say,
08:32 when we were doing research for this, we were amazed that
08:34 you are the person who has been on the most
08:36 Vogue covers of anyone we've interviewed.
08:38 Oh, stop. 31.
08:40 Do you have
08:42 a favorite? When you think of Vogue covers, do you
08:44 have one that you go to immediately? Sorry, how
08:46 many was that? 31.
08:48 Internationally. Okay. I have
08:50 to say, I loved the Michael
08:52 Janssen cover that we did for British
08:54 Vogue. I have one of the dogs on
08:56 the cover. And people say, "Don't work
08:58 with dogs or children." And that cover was...
09:00 Was it your dog? It was our dog.
09:02 There was a dog and there was children.
09:04 And there was Michael Janssen. It was
09:06 a real moment. You have a big birthday
09:08 coming up. Yes.
09:10 Do you have plans?
09:12 Is that something you're going to be celebrating? Mark Jacobs
09:14 a few days ago posted his
09:16 birthday cake and it was... He had a lot of
09:18 candles. I saw. I don't love
09:20 big birthday parties. I just like to
09:22 surround myself with the people
09:24 that I love, that I care about. I did
09:26 have to say, I did say to Mark
09:28 when I last saw him, "God, Mark,
09:30 we've got some big birthdays coming up."
09:32 I was like, "How do you feel about that?"
09:34 And he turned to me and he said, "You know,
09:36 Victoria, it's better than the alternative."
09:38 And I said, "What's that?"
09:40 He's like, "Not being
09:42 here." I was like, "Well, actually, you've got a point, Mark."
09:44 And I... Don't we just love Mark for
09:46 honesty? I mean, the words of wisdom
09:48 from Mark Jacobs. Very important.
09:50 Is there any, like, one word that
09:52 comes to mind when you think about aging?
09:54 Is it a good thing? Are there
09:56 bad things? I think it's good
09:58 if you are healthy,
10:00 happy, content,
10:02 but still driven
10:04 and excited and still ambitious.
10:06 Then that's all
10:08 good. What is the Victoria's
10:10 secret to getting older? Is there
10:12 one thing? I think
10:14 work hard, but, you know,
10:16 have fun. Enjoy the journey.
10:18 You know, over the years, from
10:20 being in the Spice Girls to starting
10:22 my brand to being where I am
10:24 now, I think it's about working
10:26 hard, but really enjoying the journey.
10:28 I'm going to do a rapid-fire
10:30 round of quick questions. Okay, good.
10:32 Dream vacation? I'd say somewhere
10:34 beautiful in Europe
10:36 in the summertime. With the family?
10:38 With my family, yeah. What's
10:40 on the soundtrack?
10:42 '90s soul on R&B.
10:44 Okay. What's your guilty
10:46 pleasure? A little cocktail or something. What's the
10:48 cocktail of choice for Victoria's? Well, we're currently
10:50 into a lappacine,
10:52 I have to say. Oh, I don't know what that is.
10:54 Oh my gosh, it's a life changer. Oh my gosh,
10:56 tell me everything. Okay, it's a little champagne
10:58 with a big ice cube
11:00 and a little soda water.
11:02 Oh, quite straightforward.
11:04 Quite straightforward. Yeah, we're into that
11:06 right now. Lovely. Alright, and
11:08 is there anything in your closet that
11:10 Harper is not allowed to borrow?
11:12 No, I mean, I really do value my
11:14 Jordan 4s and she does,
11:16 because I'm a secret collector
11:18 of trainers, and she does like to wear
11:20 them. Okay. Even the really exclusive
11:22 ones. Okay. I can't say no to her.
11:24 She can,
11:26 all the kids can borrow anything that they want.
11:28 Are you, you are a regular Instagram,
11:30 do you have a finsta? A what?
11:32 A fake Instagram where you can sort of lurk
11:34 and look at people? Oh. No.
11:36 Is that a thing? Yeah, you should get one.
11:38 What is it again? A finsta, a fake
11:40 Instagram, and that way people don't
11:42 see that you're
11:44 looking at what they're doing. I should.
11:46 That sounds like fun. What's your favorite
11:48 online shopping site?
11:50 First Dibs. We love our
11:52 homes and, you know, you can find
11:54 some great things. What's the last great thing
11:56 you got on First Dibs? Probably some lights or
11:58 something like that. Okay. It's the
12:00 30th anniversary of the Spice Girls,
12:02 which is very exciting. Is there
12:04 a Spice Girls group chat? Actually,
12:06 we do have a group chat. What makes
12:08 it sort of pop off? What are you guys excited
12:10 to sort of get in touch about? You know,
12:12 I just think, listen, we're all moms.
12:14 Okay. You know, we're all very close
12:16 to our children and we've all
12:18 got such different careers now.
12:20 I think what we created is so
12:22 special and such a legacy
12:24 and something really to be celebrated.
12:26 You know, we just had some stamps. I was
12:28 just going to ask about that. Yeah. That's
12:30 very exciting. How do you feel about
12:32 knowing that people will be licking you?
12:34 Did Anna vet these questions?
12:36 She did. Is what I want to know.
12:38 Alright. It's quite the thing,
12:40 apparently. I didn't realize quite
12:42 what an honor it was. Absolutely.
12:44 And I was working out in the gym with
12:46 David and he was like, "Oh my God, you didn't tell me
12:48 that you had these stamps."
12:50 Do you guys work out together? Yeah.
12:52 Oh, that's so nice. The two of us do, yeah.
12:54 David's often the DJ. He likes to procrastinate.
12:56 What is he playing usually? It's always
12:58 the same. 19, 20,
13:00 21. I don't know. I don't know.
13:02 It's always the same. 90s soul
13:04 and R&B. Okay. Yeah.
13:06 He likes to procrastinate. I work much harder
13:08 in the gym, I'm just saying.
13:10 Yeah. Excellent.
13:12 Well, it's been such a pleasure.
13:14 Thank you so much.
13:16 I don't expect,
13:18 I'm not suggesting you're going to be a grandmother anytime
13:20 soon. I was just curious. Okay. Well, I just thought
13:22 it was something that you're not telling me.
13:24 Right? There's nothing you know?
13:26 Okay. We did not get
13:28 an insider scoop. We, uh...
13:30 Well, one day hopefully,
13:32 I, we will be blessed.
13:34 But thank you so much. This has been a lot
13:36 of fun.
13:38 [Music]
