00:00 Today on Rappler
00:13 Senator Rizal Tiveros threatens to cite in contempt and order the arrest of doomsday
00:17 preacher Apollo Quiboloy.
00:20 President Marcos remains firm against the ICC's drug war probe, despite Filipinos'
00:24 growing support for the investigation.
00:27 Vice President Sara Duterte dismisses bags of guns issue as an attack against her by
00:32 presidential aspirants.
00:34 Environmental activists Junila Castro and Jed Tamano, who exposed their alleged fake
00:39 surrender, post bail for grave oral defamation.
00:43 And Cebu leaders call for an immediate return of four panels stolen from a church in Cebu.
00:50 Senate Deputy Minority Leader Rizal Tiveros threatens to cite in contempt and order the
00:55 arrest of doomsday preacher Apollo Quiboloy if he fails to appear in the next Senate panel
01:00 hearing.
01:01 The Senate is probing allegations made by former followers of his church, the Kingdom
01:06 of Jesus Christ or KOJC, that they were abused, some of them sexually.
01:11 Our next hearing is on March 5.
01:14 And if Mr. Quiboloy does not show up, I will cite him in contempt and have him arrested.
01:20 This in response to an audio recording posted on the Facebook page Depensa Pinas, supposedly
01:25 of Quiboloy, claiming he is in hiding due to threats to his life.
01:29 The account was created months after Quiboloy's page was removed by Meta.
01:34 Former KOJC workers say the voice in the recording is the man they once venerated as the appointed
01:39 son of God.
01:43 President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. remains firm in his stance against the International Criminal
01:47 Court probe into the bloody drug war of his predecessor, Rodrigo Duterte.
01:52 This despite growing support for the ICC probe among Filipinos.
01:55 It's still those questions of jurisdictions and sovereignty that I haven't yet seen a
02:02 sufficient answer for.
02:03 And until then, I do not recognize the jurisdiction in the Philippines.
02:10 Separate surveys conducted by polling firm Social Weather Stations and Okta reveal the
02:14 increasing trend in favor of the ICC probe.
02:18 The ICC probe covers the six years of Duterte's bloody drug war and alleged Davao death squad
02:23 when he was Davao City Mayor and Vice Mayor.
02:26 Human rights groups estimate 27,000 people died in police and vigilante operations during
02:32 Duterte's presidency.
02:36 Vice President Sara Duterte says the allegations made of her and her father, former President
02:41 Rodrigo Duterte, leaving doomsday preacher Apollo Quiboloy's property in Davao with bags
02:46 of assorted firearms are linked to the 2028 presidential elections.
02:51 The Vice President did not confirm or deny the visit to Glory Mountain, a vast property
02:56 owned by Quiboloy, only dismissing it as an attack against her by presidential aspirants.
03:01 In the history of the Philippines, it has become a habit to attack and throw various
03:07 issues against the vice president.
03:09 Perhaps because the vice president is the main obstacle for those aspiring to be president.
03:18 On Monday, February 19, a former Kingdom of Jesus Christ and Sunshine Media Network international
03:24 researcher claimed to have seen the Dutertes leave the Glory Mountain with bags of guns.
03:29 A Rappler report previously revealed Duterte had registered about 358 firearms, all with
03:35 10-year validities and legal backing.
03:41 Environmental activists Jonila Castro and Jed Tamano, who exposed that they were almost
03:45 victims of a fake surrender, post bail for grave oral defamation.
03:50 Castro and Tamano were doing groundwork on a reclamation in Bataan province when abducted
03:55 in September last year.
03:56 Later, security officials announced that Castro and Tamano were already safe and sound because
04:01 they allegedly voluntarily surrendered to the military.
04:05 During a presser held by the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict
04:10 or NTF-LCAC to present the two as surrenderees, Castro and Tamano went off-script and belied
04:15 claims they had surrendered.
04:18 For embarrassing and putting the military in a bad light, they were slapped with a perjury
04:22 complaint.
04:23 Although the DOJ prosecutors dismissed the perjury, it moved to indict Castro and Tamano
04:27 for grave oral defamation.
04:30 This comes shortly after the Supreme Court granted protective writs to the two activists.
04:38 Cebu leaders issue calls for the immediate return of four panels stolen in the late 1980s
04:43 that re-emerged at the National Museum of the Philippines.
04:46 The panels were donated by private collectors Edwin and Aileen Bautista.
04:51 Cebu Archbishop Jose S. Palma says the removal of the wooden panels from the pulpit of the
04:56 Archdiocesan Shrine of Patrocino de Maria Santissima constitutes sacrilege.
05:02 Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia invites the NMP to Cebu to start the constructive dialogue
05:07 on the return of the panels.
05:09 In a statement, the National Museum says it is eager to facilitate sharing the four panels
05:13 with the people of Cebu as soon as possible.
05:17 The NMP adds the artifacts have "dynamic ownership and circulation."
05:22 Cebu Provincial Government Consultant Ben Cabrido Jr. says there is no dynamic ownership
05:27 because ownership cannot be transferred through theft or robbery.
05:33 And that's today's WRAP.
