With an exponential pay-raise and a market-setting contract looming, can the Denver Broncos afford not to trade 2-time Pro Bowl cornerback Pat Surtain if they enter a rebuild?

00:00 I'm like Edel coming in saying hey Nick and Carl
00:02 I don't think we can afford to keep Patrick's tan in the future also not sure he's happy in Denver a great show guys
00:06 I mean, he's a competitor, of course, but the way the Broncos don't have to pay him for another
00:12 Honestly three years because he is going to be obviously cheaper on his fifth year con fifth year option
00:18 Denver will obviously pick it up
00:20 Then he will be hits the market and the franchise tag is gonna be cheaper than what he's gonna get paid now not probably
00:26 It'd be a cheaper year one hit then if you sign a new deal versus the franchise cap hit that season
00:33 But you arguably have three years of control left first or tan so
00:37 You can still afford him and after 2025 with how the contracts are set up right now. You're paying almost nobody
00:45 With how the team is because you don't have a lot of draft picks from the last couple seasons early ones
00:50 Especially I'd be getting paid. I mean really it might just be McGlinchey powers and Allen and the draft class you just had
00:56 So a lot a lot a lot of flexibility beyond that about the time when Sir, Jan would get paid
01:01 yeah, I think they'll be fine and
01:04 You you might be right that he's not happy here in Denver
01:09 But winning can change that, you know, if you're winning by the time he's on his fifth year option
01:14 Then maybe at that point he's going. Okay, I can stay I can see where they're going if he can catch the vision of this
01:21 coaching staff
01:23 You know that and money talks to you
01:26 That's the other big thing here if you offer him the the top contract for cornerbacks that's ever been given out all of a sudden
01:32 Oh, yeah, I love Denver. This is the best place ever
01:35 so
01:36 well, there's still a lot of time left is what I'm trying to say before you really have to get into that and
01:42 Decide how much he's gonna be a part of your future how much he wants to be a part of your future as well
