00:00 Hi Keir, so can I ask what would be done to help ease congestion on busy roads such as the A27
00:05 which has been causing grief for motorists in Sussex for years?
00:08 Yeah, have a proper plan for roads and infrastructure.
00:12 That A27, I've driven on that road.
00:16 What people are fed up with is a government that chops and changes all the time.
00:21 So it'll say one year they're going to do something about it, then it drops off,
00:26 and then they say we'll do it next year. We've had projects that have been announced and re-announced.
00:30 I don't know how many times over. We can't go on like that.
00:33 So what you'll get with an incoming Labour government is a proper strategy for our roads,
00:37 including the A27, so that what we say will happen gets done and gets done on time.
00:43 And I think that will be a massive relief for everybody who knows this problem only too well.
00:48 Finally, can I just ask about GP and hospital wait times?
00:51 We've seen Piers Morgan speak on TV recently about how bad the situation is at one Sussex hospital.
00:56 It's obviously a problem nationally. So can I ask what you would do to solve that problem?
01:00 Liz, do you want to lead on that?
01:02 We will create two million more hospital and other appointments paid for by scrapping the non-dominant tax status.
01:10 That will make a huge difference. I have to say I really do know about the problems getting particularly GP appointments.
01:18 I hear this regularly from my parents, just what a struggle it is to get through the 8am wait.
01:25 That's not right. It's not right for people who are desperate to get their health problems sorted.
01:30 But you know what? It ends up building up problems for the long run.
01:34 Because if you're not seen quickly and you end up in A&E, that's bad for you.
01:39 And it costs the taxpayer more because that's much more expensive.
01:42 That's why our big plan to shift the focus of healthcare out of hospitals into the community more towards prevention
01:50 will make a big difference to people living here, as I know only too well.
