Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend on the try that never was and cheers for Sam Skinner in training
Transcript
00:00 feedback and from what happened at the end of that game?
00:03 No, just a really normal process. I think there was a bigger issue around the law in
00:10 the game that allows people not to chase their own kicks. So there was a discussion around
00:16 that and Interest on Super Rugby are changing that law for when they start next week. So
00:23 I think that's a positive thing for the game that you should be able to, or you shouldn't
00:28 be allowed to just stand and not chase a kick and put something on the side.
00:32 So as far as the try no try incident, that's kind of done and dusted from a World Rugby
00:38 side of things?
00:39 Well there's nothing that can be done is there? The game won't be replayed and it shouldn't
00:44 be replayed and yeah we're disappointed, clearly disappointed. Nothing's changed our view on
00:50 seeing the footage then and re-watching it a few times after. We believe it should have
00:55 been a try. I believe that's the way the decision was going to go during the conversation between
01:01 the TMO and the referee but it didn't happen and you've got to move on.
01:05 How hard or otherwise has it been to move on? Did the break come at a good time to reset
01:11 and get ready for this one?
01:13 Yeah I think with anything you move on. I think if there hadn't been a break you'd be
01:17 on to the next game and you'd be coaching and you'd be training. So I think you've got
01:24 to look ahead. There was actually a funny moment in training during the week where Sam
01:28 Skinner scored a try and everybody just started giving him a round of applause and as a coach
01:34 I thought, get your minds back on the rugby, I just thought okay we've moved on. So Sam
01:40 was happy to get the ball down. Sorry he didn't get the ball down, it was awarded.
