Senate honors former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon

00:13 That's exactly what happened earlier today as Senators reaffirmed a resolution that gives
00:18 due recognition to a former official of the United Nations.

00:26 "Former United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon was honored by the Philippine Senate
00:34 Tuesday by adopting a resolution honoring his global contributions, particularly his
00:39 work on global diplomacy, peacekeeping efforts, and advocacy on sustainable development.
00:45 Senator Loren Legarda recognized Ban's effort to visit the Philippines following the Typhoon
00:51 Yolanda onslaught back in 2013.
00:54 He also admired Ban's visionary leadership."
00:57 "His leadership in founding and guiding the Global Commission on Adaptation exemplified
01:04 his proactive stance on tackling climate change.
01:08 I had the privilege of witnessing his visionary leadership firsthand when I served alongside
01:14 him as one of the GCA's commissioners in 2018."
01:18 "Senator Bong Revilla recognized Ban's effort to further the UN's climate change agenda,
01:24 noting today the Philippines is no stranger to climate crisis like the threat of El Niño."
01:30 "He highlights the power of collective action to respond to challenges of poverty, food
01:36 security, climate change, peace building, and inequality.
01:41 He has definitely inspired many of us with his decisive and action-oriented leadership."
01:49 More senators stood up to recognize Ban's accomplishments in other areas of concern

02:03 He is one of the presidents whom we consider a true leader, not only of one country but

02:25 Ban, for his part, hopes that the Philippines and Republic of Korea's relationship will
