00:00 Ariana Grande just opened up about the emotional writing process for her upcoming album Eternal
00:05 Sunshine.
00:06 Fans were elated when Ariana Grande announced her next album and started sharing song snippets,
00:12 even releasing the single "Yes, And."
00:14 However, some fans were extremely disappointed that these bits and pieces will be the only
00:18 previews they get until Eternal Sunshine is released in its entirety.
00:23 In early February, Grande shared a message to her Instagram story which reads, "I wanted
00:27 to say, as hard as it is to resist the urge to share another song or single with you all
00:32 ASAP, I would really love for you to experience the album in full this time.
00:36 Waiting a little longer for you to be able to listen fully through first is really my
00:40 ideal way for you all to experience this body of work."
00:44 Now in a recent episode of The Zach Sang Show, Grande is explaining exactly why she wants
00:49 her fans to wait, noting that the writing process for the album was incredibly emotional
00:53 and she doesn't want fans to misconstrue any of the song's meanings.
00:57 "It was definitely the most emotional writing process for sure.
01:01 The thing that was beautiful about it was when I was writing it was with no intention
01:05 for the world to hear it.
01:06 I was just kind of like, 'Let's just go.
01:08 Let's see what comes out.'
01:10 And then when I was done, I remembered that people will hear it and how sometimes people
01:17 can sensationalize things and assign meaning to certain things and I wanted to make sure
01:27 that I combed through just to make sure that it was what I intended.
01:32 I definitely had some sessions where I was writing more emotionally and reactively, but
01:39 that's also very human, so I didn't want to erase all of it."
