00:00Election season is officially here.
00:02With less than three weeks until Election Day, viral videos are flooding social media,
00:07encouraging Americans to get out and vote.
00:10As Election Day approaches, so does Halloween, but who's to say these two events have to
00:15stay separate?
00:16TikTok user at YourFuzzyScarf is merging both in a fun and spooky way with her coven.
00:22In this viral clip, these witches aren't just casting spells, they're gearing up to cast
00:27their votes, too.
00:28Another social media user, Chris Everett, took to TikTok to share his take on the importance
00:34of exercising your right to vote, and his message clearly hit home, racking up nearly
00:38200,000 likes.
00:39If you're choosing not to vote, that's your prerogative, but I think it's foolish, I think
00:45it's misguided, and I think it's a privilege.
00:47And let me explain.
00:49Because for a lot of communities, people of color, women, etc., people died and fought
00:53for the right to vote.
00:54You know what I mean?
00:55Because like it or not, democracy is not always fun.
00:57We don't always see the changes that we want to see, right?
00:59And so now when you refuse to participate in the system because you're frustrated, there's
01:03now less resistance and less voters in the system to keep it on check now.
01:06Does that make sense?
01:08So I honor and I respect the frustrations, but there really is a lot on the line, like,
01:13a lot.
01:14And in one of the most heartwarming viral moments, 81-year-old Betty Cartlidge made
01:19headlines for voting for the very first time in her life.
01:22After her husband's passing last year, Cartlidge decided to make her own choice of the polls,
01:27sharing with WSB-TV Atlanta,
01:29I was so young when we got married.
01:32I never thought about it.
01:33Then, as I got older, I figured my vote wouldn't matter.
01:36Voting was neat.
01:37It was good.
01:38If I'm still here, I'll be back again.
01:41Remember, early voting is starting soon.
01:43Don't wait.
01:44Check when you can vote in your state and make sure your voice is heard.
