00:22 Good morning, Angeli!
00:23 Good morning!
00:24 [Speaking in Tagalog]
00:32 It's really a pleasure to be here.
00:34 In fact, this brings me back to the olden days when I first started here,
00:39 when it was still called Maharlika Broadcasting Center.
00:43 My first show was in the morning.
00:46 Hello!
00:47 What time in the morning was that?
00:48 Well, it wasn't this early.
00:49 7 o'clock.
00:50 7 o'clock.
00:51 But still, when you're a night person, you really need to go back to your daily routine
00:56 so that you can wake up early.
00:58 And even if you want to sleep early, you can't do it.
01:03 You're anticipating the time when the alarm clock will ring.
01:07 You're already ahead of the alarm clock.
01:08 So in short, it's like you're not sleeping.
01:10 That's the most challenging thing in the morning, waking up early.
01:15 But thank you for waking up early today.
01:17 It's my pleasure.
01:18 Let's talk about this new program, In Person.
01:21 Okay, Ma'am Mano, can you share with us the concept of the program, In Person?
01:28 And what do you feel when you're chosen as the host of this program?
01:34 Actually, I'm very honored.
01:36 It's a privilege to be chosen by our GM, Ana, and management to host this program.
01:44 Because the newscast is different.
01:47 You know, we're also newscasters.
01:49 Because basically, they give us information on what we need to report.
01:54 We only have the opportunity to do some interviews
01:57 if we have a reporter in the field that we want to talk to.
02:01 But this gives us a chance to go to where the newsmaker is
02:07 and to really get to know him or her in person.
02:11 Because sometimes, we only see soundbites that can be taken out of context.
02:16 This is when you really understand in a more intimate manner
02:20 how this person's mind works, where he or she comes from,
02:24 what he or she did before he or she became this government official,
02:31 where he or she came from, what his or her family life is,
02:34 and there are other interesting tidbits about the person.
02:37 Plus, of course, he or she has the opportunity to explain his or her program of government,
02:42 how the police are being implemented,
02:45 of course, cascaded down from the president.
02:47 Because if he or she is a secretary,
02:50 he or she has a mandate that is based on the vision of our government,
02:57 the vision of our president.
02:58 So, it's a really good way of getting to know people better.
03:02 And I want to impart that to the audience.
03:05 Because sometimes, their perception of the person is different.
03:08 They will get to see more of that person.
03:11 They will get to know the deeper angles of the viewers.
03:15 And they are also higher officials because this is our government.
03:18 Yes, of course, it's nerve-racking.
03:20 Although we know them because we see them on TV every day,
03:24 and maybe they see us every day or sometimes,
03:29 but the face-to-face conversations are different.
03:34 And it's a nice experience.
03:38 And through you, we can talk to them.
03:42 Yes, and you try to get them to relax.
03:44 Although they're in their comfort zone because it's their office or a place that is familiar to them.
03:51 But of course, because the questions can be both serious or light,
03:57 so there's a challenge to how to draw them out and be more relaxed.
04:03 And you just open up to the audience.
04:06 What is your mission when you conceptualize this in-person?
04:11 What's your mission in this program?
04:13 To get to know people better.
04:16 Because when our audience gets to know a person,
04:21 they will be closer or at least they will understand what we're really explaining to them.
04:30 When you get to know them a little better, that's our mission.
04:34 And to also see how they conceptualize their programs,
04:39 what are the difficulties they're facing.
04:42 It's not a joke to run a government agency, a department.
04:48 I'm getting a little taste of that right now because I was assigned as an overseer of the news department.
04:55 And there's so many elements that are needed to make things work.
05:00 Can you just imagine running a department with thousands of people?
05:06 It's really a challenge for them.
05:09 And our role is to bring them closer to the people.
05:13 In this program, for sure, we will know the directions that will be directed by each government agency that will be guests in the program.
05:23 But when will we be able to watch this program in person?
05:26 What should our audience expect?
05:30 Okay, well of course our premiere is on Friday, March 1 at 8 p.m.
05:35 And our first interviewee is none other than the Police Chief PNP,
05:43 Brigadier, sorry, General, because he's the highest position, right?
05:48 So General Benjamin Acorda Jr. will be our first interviewee.
05:53 But we will also be waiting for other secretaries,
05:58 Speaker of the House, Martin Romualdez will be joining us.
06:02 And we also have Secretary, just a secret.
06:08 Just a surprise.
06:09 Actually, there are others.
06:11 And this is going to be at least every other week.
06:14 And it's not a plain talk show with just talking heads.
06:18 There are a lot of elements.
06:20 It's like a mini documentary.
06:22 So it's harder to put together.
06:26 So I'm also very proud of our lean but mean team,
06:31 our group that is really moving to get this and to release it.
06:38 So we will have a taste of what we will be watching on Friday.
06:42 What are your discussions with the PNP Chief?
06:46 Well, of course, because we know that sometimes the police always beat people.
06:52 So what is his sentiment there when there are beatings?
06:55 How does he handle the so-called scalawags?
07:01 There are also personal criticisms of him.
07:04 How does he also handle that?
07:06 And what are his programs that have been successful?
07:10 Because the Philippines has been actually rated as one of the safest places in Asia today.
07:18 So of course, people think differently.
07:20 But in the international arena, we also receive awards.
07:27 So how was he able to achieve that?
07:29 So those kinds of stories.
07:31 What time is this, Ma'am, on Friday?
07:33 Yes, this is at 8 p.m.
07:36 It's only 30 minutes long.
07:38 But it's really a lot of details and information.
07:45 I'm really looking forward to this program in person.
07:49 And of course, because of that, we would like to congratulate Angie Dick.
07:55 Of course, congratulations, Ma'am Dick.
07:56 Thank you so much.
07:57 We know that Ma'am Dick is doing a lot of things.
08:00 She said that she is also overseeing our news operations.
08:04 So, please look forward to our newscasts because Ma'am Dick is also overseeing them.
08:11 But really, this is one big team effort.
08:14 And you realize how every single unit is so important.
08:19 Every single person in the news department is so important to bring the news to our people.
08:26 So, when you watch the news, even this show, there are a lot of moving elements.
08:34 So, that's it. I'm just very honored and thrilled to be where I am today.
08:39 Doing the things that I still love after what, 39 years.
08:43 It's been quite a ride.
08:46 Well, again, congratulations to you in person.
08:49 And we will be waiting for this.
08:51 It will start on Friday at 8 p.m.
08:55 In person, hosted of course by Ms. Angele Plaza.
08:58 Thank you so much for having me.
09:00 And please watch.
09:01 See you there.
