00:04 >> I think just to find more consistency.
00:06 I think by him opening up a little bit, it's gonna allow his direction to stay
00:11 more consistent and have more direct path to the ball.
00:14 I mean, obviously, he's played two games, but just going left on left, Homer,
00:20 you know that that's the best thing that can happen cuz it just confirms that
00:24 your direction is where you want it to be.
00:25 And he's looked great at the plate, he hit the ball the opposite field.
00:29 He's faced all lefties I think so far this spring,
00:31 which I was joking with him that he's a reverse platoon guy now.
00:34 >> [LAUGH]
00:36 >> But it's just funny how that kinda
00:37 happens during spring training, but his work looks great.
00:40 We've all seen Will go through stretches where he looks really good.
00:46 I think just making the posture and
00:48 the alignment adjustments are gonna help him stay more consistent.
00:51 >> With platoon guys, can we sometimes put guys, make guys,
00:57 players, teams, whether in your own careers,
01:01 when you see a lefty, you gotta take a guy out.
01:04 How do you judge some of these guys so that doesn't happen?
01:08 >> It's a case by case, pitcher by pitcher, hitter by hitter basis.
01:11 I think the big numbers don't lie.
01:14 Left on left, there's not too many left hand hitters at the major league level
01:17 that hit lefties better than they hit righties.
01:20 And a lot of times, if with certain guys,
01:24 you have a right handed hitter on the bench that performs better against lefties.
01:29 And so it's just leveraging those situations of what do we need right now?
01:35 And it's playing the numbers game of this matchup gives us
01:40 a better statistical advantage right now.
01:43 But you also have to keep in mind how each guy's feeling.
01:46 It's not just a black and white situation.
01:48 There's always gray area.
01:49 I was joked, there's not one number in baseball that has a one.
01:54 In front of the decimal point.
01:55 There's nothing, it's absolute.
01:58 There's playing the numbers.
01:59 And so I think it's case by case, person by person,
02:02 how they're feeling at the time versus historical.
02:05 There's a lot that gets cooked into those decisions.
02:07 But at the same time, left on left is tough.
02:12 You just don't see enough of them over the course of the time to get used to it.
02:16 And but that's not to say that you can't play your way back into being an everyday
02:21 So I do think we make those decisions very quickly sometimes.
