Jazz pianist Roy Meriwether from Dayton, Ohio first played in his father's church, accompanying the family choir. Meriwether was highly influenced by gospel and blues and directed a trio since 1965 when he signed to Columbia. "Nubian lady" was recorded at The Magic Carpet in Dayton composed of all four quite long tracks with massive heavy drums, bad rolling bass and funky piano on the title track locked into a soul-jazz-gospel groove. The album is completed by the tasty and mellow take on Billy Paul classic "Me & Mrs. Jones".
