00:00 A hot Friday and the first day of March for all of us. I am Benison Estareja.
00:06 This March, there is still a low chance of having a typhoon but it is still possible.
00:12 Based on our image that you can see, this is all typhoons that we have every month of March since 1948 until 2018.
00:20 This thin black color. While the thick black color is what we call the average tracks or the typical that typhoons pass every month of March.
00:29 We have two scenarios. The first one is typhoons that are formed in the Pacific Ocean.
00:34 It enters our Philippine area of responsibility and it recurves or moves away from our country.
00:41 So it does not landfall.
00:42 The second scenario is landfalling typhoons that are formed in the coast of Visayas and Mindanao.
00:48 It moves up, west, north, west and it can landfall in the areas of Caraga region, Visayas and Palawan
00:56 until it dissipates or melts here in the West Philippine Sea.
01:00 For this year, March 2024, there is a zero or one possible typhoon and if we will ever have it, it is called a typhoon.
01:07 For today, there are still two weather systems that are affecting our country.
01:12 The first one is the weak Northeast Monsoon or AMIHAN that brings a part of the cold temperature here in Northern Luzon.
01:20 While the other one is the hot and windy weather here in the rest of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao because of the Easter Leaves or the wind from the Pacific Ocean.
01:29 Based on our latest satellite animation, we have cloud clusters or cloud cover here in the southern portion of our country.
01:36 But none of these can be seen as typhoons.
01:40 For today, the weather is still windy in a large part of Luzon.
01:45 But here in the part of Cagayan, Isabela and Aurora, the weather is still cold with light rain and AMIHAN.
01:53 Here in the Cordillera region and here in the part of Cagayan Valley, it is partly cloudy to cloudy skies.
01:59 While here in the Ilocos region, it is sunny in many occasions and the chance of rain is small.
02:06 For the rest of Central Luzon, rest of Calabarzo, here in Mimaropa, the part is cloudy and often sunny weather.
02:14 Let's count Metro Manila, partly cloudy to cloudy skies in Quezon and Bicol region and a large part of Central and Southern Luzon, the weather will be hot.
02:24 Our temperature here in Lawag City is possible to rise to 32 degrees Celsius, in Metro Manila up to 33 degrees, and in Tuguegarao, the actual temperature is up to 34 degrees Celsius.
02:37 For our fellowmen here in Palawan and a large part of Visayas, it is partly cloudy and sometimes sunny skies.
02:46 There are chances of rain in the afternoon and evening, possibly in the eastern portion of Visayas and in Aklan and Capiz.
02:54 If there is a chance of rain, it will be light or moderate, just short of rain.
02:59 Our temperature here in Visayas and Palawan is also hot, between 31 to 32 degrees Celsius, up to the afternoon, the actual temperature.
03:08 But the heat index or the possible feeling of heat in our body is up to 39 to 40 degrees over Rojas City, Tacloban and Borongan City in the eastern summer.
03:19 For our fellowmen in Mindanao, the rain will be less, especially here in Davao Region, it is still cloudy sometimes and there are chances of short rain,
03:29 like in Soxhagen, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi, the sky is partly cloudy and sometimes sunny, in Buanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao and Carraga Region,
03:39 where there are still heavy rains or localized thunderstorms, especially in Surigao Provinces and Davao Oriental, up to the afternoon and evening.
03:48 Our temperature here in Buangas and Butipos is also up to 33 degrees, while in Davao, it is up to 32 degrees Celsius.
03:56 Today, the clouds are still rising here in the extreme northern Luzon, up to 3.4 meters, because of the increasing strong winds, only in the northern Luzon.
04:07 While it is still a bit cloudy here in the Pacific Ocean and it is sunny up to the right of the clouds here in the West Philippine Sea, Visayas, Suluci and Moroc Gulf.
04:18 For the next three days, we are still expecting the Easter Leaves to fall and a light North-East Monsoon here in the northern Luzon.
04:26 So, here in Metro Manila, the weather conditions are almost the same, but the hot weather is still noticeable,
04:33 up to the afternoon, possibly up to 33 degrees Celsius, while the heat index is possible to reach 36 degrees Celsius.
04:40 Here in Baguio City, the chance of rain is still low, if only for a short period of time and the temperature is cool, between 14 to 24 degrees Celsius.
04:51 While here in Bicol Region, as part of the Legazpi City, it is partly cloudy, cloudy skies, so the Mayon Volcano is still visible and the ideal is to walk.
05:00 But the chance of rain is still low in a large part of the region.
05:05 For our fellow citizens in Visayas, the Easter Leaves will still be around for the next three days and possibly in the next few days,
05:11 until we terminate the North-East Monsoon this first half of March.
05:17 We are expecting the sunny weather in Western Visayas and Central Visayas, while partly cloudy to cloudy skies for the next three days.
05:24 Here in Eastern Visayas, there is a chance of isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
05:30 And lastly, to our fellow citizens here in Mindanao, the first days of March will still be hot and the sun will be shining more than the previous days where there were still rains.
05:41 If ever there is a chance of rain, here in Basilan, Sulu, Tawitawi, Davao Oriental and Surigao del Sur,
05:48 these will be localized thunderstorms and our temperatures will still be hot, especially in Buanga City, Davao City, Jensan and Cotabato City.
05:57 Our sunrise is 6.13am and sunset is 6.04pm.
06:02 That's all the latest from the Weather Forecasting Center of Pagasa.
06:06 I am again Benison Estareja, saying, "Pagasa, Magandang Solusyon!"
