00:23 The route spanning 37 kilometers will initially run from Agbado to Onigo with
00:28 notable stations including Agbado, Iju, Aggege, Ikeja, Oshodi, Moshi, Yaba and Onigo.
00:37 At full capacity, the phase one of the Red Line will transport 250 passengers daily
00:46 and this will grow to a total of 750 passengers when it is fully, fully in operation with all
00:53 the complementary running stock that is required. Once operational, it is expected to facilitate
01:00 37 trips daily accommodating approximately 500,000 passengers. Unlike the electric-powered
01:07 Blue Line, the Red Line will utilize a diesel-powered system known as Diesel Multiple Unit.
01:12 Today, Mr. President, we mark an historic milestone in the honors of Lagos and indeed
01:19 in our nation with the commissioning of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit, the Red Line,
01:25 a 37 kilometer of modern engineering that stretches from Agbado, again in open state,
01:32 all the way to Onigo and in the phase two will connect to National Arts Theatre.
01:40 The Red Line project is a substantial investment in Lagos transportation infrastructure.
01:47 It has been estimated to cost 135 million dollars. Today is a day to remember
01:55 in that infrastructural history of our country and particularly Lagos, my Lagos.
02:14 The inauguration also featured the formal agreement signing for the commencement of
02:18 the Red Line second phase running from Onigo to Marina, a collaboration between
02:23 Lamarta and CCECC executed by Lamarta's managing director, engineer Abinbola Akinajo and the CCECC
02:31 chairman in the presence of Sonwolu and the CCECC president.
02:43 President Tinubo and some dignitaries took presidential inaugural ride on the Red Line
02:47 from Ikeja train station to Agege and back.
02:50 Governor Sonwolu highlighted the commencement of work on two additional lines within the
03:00 Lagos Rail Mass Transit system, the Green Line and the Purple Line. The Green Line will extend
03:07 71.4 kilometers from Marina to Leki while the Purple Line will run 53.4 kilometers from Ojo
