00:00 On the first day of the fire prevention month, a cloth warehouse in Valenzuela City was set on fire.
00:06 Our witnesses.
00:08 The explosion in this warehouse in Paso de Blas in Valenzuela City spread quickly.
00:15 There was no first alarm at 3.08 pm.
00:18 It immediately went up to the second alarm after 3 minutes.
00:24 The fire was so big that the smoke was visible even on Skyway Stage 3. According to Glenn Huego of Super Radio DCBB,
00:30 it was difficult to get a red light because of the so-called cloth and kitchenware.
00:34 In Baguio City, Negros Occidental, where a house was on fire in the winter yesterday,
00:40 a woman with Alzheimer's disease.
00:42 She was 72 years old and bedridden.
00:45 That's why she couldn't get out of the fire until 10 am.
00:48 The fire was still being investigated.
00:51 Inside the house, a one-year-old boy was also burned in Barangay Balulang in Cagayan de Oro City.
00:57 The family tried to save the child but was forced to leave because the fire spread quickly.
01:02 The house was covered with light materials and 21 families were affected by the fire.
01:08 Since January, the fire in the country of Puminsala has reached more than 3,000 in the amount of almost P1.5 billion.
01:17 According to the Bureau of Fire Protection, the number one cause of the fire is cigarettes and others like cigars and cigar pipes.
01:24 Also included in the most common causes of fire are electrical ignition, loose connection or overloading, and the left cooking.
01:32 On the first day of Fire Prevention Month, BFP showed additional causes of death,
01:38 such as the chopper of AFP that can now blow water,
01:42 and the fire drone of the Mandaluyong CDRRMO that can now drop chemicals that cause fire.
01:47 There is also an unmanned that can cause the fire of Manila CDRRMO.
01:50 But BFP admitted that there are still many shortcomings.
01:53 We have around 123 municipalities that still don't have fire trucks, meaning there are still no fire stations, meaning there are still no firefighters.
02:03 But they are confident that they will be able to solve this in the coming years.
02:06 What is important now is the cooperation of the people especially in this hot season.
02:12 El Niño is still on fire.
02:13 There is still a lack of awareness of our communities because the majority of fire incidents are residential.
02:19 We are promoting the EDITH or Emergency or Exit Drill in the Home,
02:26 meaning to talk to each other, include in the topic how to exit, the secondary exit of the grills, where the fuse is placed,
02:34 how to go down the stairs when it's dark.
02:37 For GMA Integrated News, Joseph Morong is your witness.
