00:00 The Philippine Coast Guard deployed BRP Gabriela Silang to Batanes and Benham Rise of the Philippine Arise.

00:07 This is for a two-week mission.

00:10 According to PCG Spokesperson Rear Admiral Armando Balino,

00:15 this patrol will add to our presence in the Northern Luzon

00:20 and will monitor the situation of our fellow fishermen there.

00:24 According to Balino, the Chinese research vessel will also monitor the frequent entry of the Benham Rise.

00:32 In addition, the National Security Council stated in this letter

00:36 that they have no right to conduct unauthorized research in the government

00:43 in order to prove that the ships that the Philippines will deploy

00:50 will be harmed by diplomatic protests by the DFA.

00:55 We are in charge of the entry of the two Chinese maritime research vessels

01:04 because as declared clearly by the UN Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf,

01:13 we are the only country that has rights over that area.

01:19 If there are maritime or marine research vessels,

01:23 they have no right to conduct research there or to conduct any exploration

01:29 without the express consent of the Philippine government.

01:32 In this case, these two marine research vessels were not requested by the government.

01:41 That is an illegal act.
