00:03 train station today talking to passengers about the rail fare increase
00:07 I'm here with journalism students at Wolverhampton University Holly and
00:10 Caitlin. Holly gets the train quite often so Holly there has been an increase in
00:16 train fares by almost 5% so you get the train quite often don't you? Have you
00:21 noticed that it's a bit more expensive? Honestly it actually shocked me because I
00:24 messaged my friend and I was like has it gone up for you and he was like oh it's gone up by
00:27 50p but for me it's gone down by 30p. I don't know if it's because I've got a
00:32 rail card or anything but I went on and I was like oh it's cheaper it wasn't
00:36 anything I expected to be fair. So you haven't really experienced it? No. Okay I mean so for
00:41 those your friend did you say he's seen a higher increase? Yeah it's gone up by 50p for him.
00:45 50p and to be fair that's quite a significant amount so I mean how do you think this
00:50 kind of affects other people I mean especially your friend I'm guessing
00:54 they're quite young as well? No they're actually older. So I mean how do they feel about it?
00:59 They haven't got a rail card obviously because it's the 16-25 bracket and they have
01:04 noticed that it does add quite a lot on to every journey and over the course of
01:08 the month because one of my other friends he has a... what's the word?
01:13 I can't think of it. Yeah he has one of those cards that you pay at the beginning of the month and I was always like that
01:19 doesn't work out better because you're only in three days a week like it
01:23 doesn't actually work out very much but I think now that it's gone up it's
01:27 definitely gonna save him money so it could be something to look into in the
01:30 future. Yeah good and is this gonna you know you said you've got a rail card but if your train
01:37 prices do go up do you think you'll be looking at other ways to get around or
01:41 do you think you're just gonna have to like live with it? No no it's alright. If it goes up
01:46 any more I will probably drive in. So I'd do like half the way drive because it just
01:50 saves on fuel and everything but if it goes up any more I think it will be at
01:53 the point it's cheaper to drive. Yeah thank you guys so much that was brilliant
