West Brom 1 Swansea 0 - Lewis Cox analysis
Transcript
00:00It's a 1-0 Albion win at the Hawthorns against Swansea City. Unbeaten Albion after four
00:06Championship games this season with 10 points from 12 as we head into this international
00:09break. Up to second in the division. Yes, I know it's far too early to look at that,
00:14of course, but yeah, a highly, highly encouraging start to the campaign continued here at the
00:19Hawthorns. Feel-good factor around the place from the games early on so far this season,
00:26from, of course, the deadline day yesterday and the two new recruits that arrived, the
00:30window as a whole, and the South Wales visitors were pretty firmly dispatched today, I think
00:36for a 1-0. It was almost as comfortable as it could be, even with Swansea coming on in
00:41the second half, but really by the chances created and the good clear-cut openings, the
00:47shots could have been really heavy in favour of Carlos Corbijn's side today. I mean, by
00:53the time Jason Molumbi netted the game's only goal just on the stroke of half-time,
00:56it could have been 4 or 5, really, and that's no exaggeration. The first 15, 20, 30 minutes
01:03were seriously rampant. I mean, I haven't seen Albion like that here for a while, certainly
01:08from the off. A bit of wastefulness and Swansea were lucky to survive, but yeah, seriously
01:14impressive. And Corbijn said to us there, actually, he sensed it in the dressing room
01:18before the game. He actually said, after the game there, he said, I felt my team had
01:23won before kick-off because of how the dressing room was. He said he hadn't heard that before.
01:27I sort of asked why, and he said, well, it's just the ambition and belief we're growing
01:31here now. And I think that says a lot, actually. And yeah, Albion were good value for this.
01:36They should have won by a greater margin, but they weren't too troubled in the second
01:40half. Swansea came on, but Albion, I thought, were disciplined and drilled and resolute
01:46and limited the Swans to fairly little. Luke Williams, the Swansea manager, waxed lyrical
01:51about Albion just then, and now Corbijn's an elite manager, and just how dominant Albion
01:56were at this place, especially. And yeah, highly, highly encouraging start to the campaign,
02:01as I say. So much left to come for this side. Obviously, only Hegum of the XI, new boys
02:06have been involved so far of an unchanged XI. All the new recruits to come, including
02:11obviously Mikey Johnson, that statement signing, and Mason Holgate. So lots to look forward
02:15to. Another big win here today. Comfortable at 1-0.
