Joe Alt, Blake Fisher on Former Teammate Michael Mayer
Las Vegas Raiders tight end Michael Mayer has been in contact with former Notre Dame teammates Joe Alt and Blake Fisher as they prepare for the 2024 NFL Draft.

00:05 >> Yeah, for me the guy I always thought was Tim Grunhardt.
00:08 That's my dad played with in Collin Grunhardt was at Notre Dame.
00:10 So he actually left the year I got there, but he helped recruit me.
00:13 So we had a lot of conversations that kind of sharing stories you've heard from
00:16 our dads.
00:16 >> Joe, are you still in contact with Michael Mayer?
00:18 >> What was that?
00:20 >> Michael Mayer and has he reached out to you during this process?
00:23 >> Yeah, me and Michael had a great relationship.
00:25 I lean on him a lot.
00:26 Not when I kind of got to play my freshman year cuz he did as a true freshman and
00:30 kind of lean on him and how he went through the change.
00:32 I'm going to high school and I'm expecting to play as a freshman.
00:34 So we have a great relationship and he's reached out to me through the process as
00:37 well.
00:37 >> Blake, have you been in contact with Michael Mayer and
00:40 has he been giving you some advice throughout this process?
00:42 >> Yeah, I kind of talked to Mike like a week and a half before I came out here.
00:46 Just kind of asked him what the process is like, what to expect.
00:49 I love Big Mike.
00:51 He's always been kind of that guy that I've looked up to just to ask questions and
00:55 kind of been a mentor.
00:56 >> What are your thoughts on the rookie season he had?
00:59 >> I had a great rookie season.
01:00 I mean, he did what he had to do out there, took care of business.
01:04 We're given the opportunity and I thought he went out and balled.
01:07 >> He got hurt right away and only got to play two games your freshman year.
01:10 What do you think it says about you that you were still able to come back and
01:13 just declare all in three years?
01:15 >> Yeah, I would just say it just presents my hard work and my dedication.
01:20 My will to want to be one of the best.
01:23 And I feel like just the coaching staff that I had around me,
01:27 believing in me and my abilities helped me to be able to do that.
