New York Giants Don't Tag Barkley, McKinney

00:05 have elected not to use any tags on running back Saquon Barkley or safety Xavier McKinney,

00:11 their top two pending free agents.

00:13 Barkley, who had been a candidate for the franchise tag, will hit the open market for

00:18 the first time firing a last minute contract being struck with the Giants.

00:22 McKinney will also hit free agency for the first time.

00:25 At 24 years old, the former second round draft pick is coming off his best season as a pro

00:31 in which he played every single defensive snap and logged career highs in both tackles

00:35 and past breakups.

00:37 The versatile McKinney hasn't been shy in expressing his opinion that he is one of,

00:41 if not the best safeties in the league and deserves to be compensated accordingly.

00:46 And based on the team's decision regarding the use of a tag for the safety, it's apparent

00:50 that the Giants would rather take their chances with getting a comp pick for McKinney as well

00:55 as for Barkley in 2025 if, of course, the chips fall the right way.
