00:00 On Tuesday, West Bengal government refused to hand over the custody of the three-time
00:05 Congress leader Shah Jahan Sheikh to the CBI despite the order of the Calcutta High Court.
00:10 On 5th January, a team of the CBI reached the West Bengal Police Headquarters to take Shah
00:15 Jahan under custody for the attack on the ED officials.
00:20 But the police refused to give custody by handing over the Yachika to the Supreme Court.
00:26 The Bengal government has challenged the orders of the Calcutta High Court to the Supreme
00:31 Court.
00:32 However, the Supreme Court refused to take custody of the Yachika and asked the lawyers
00:37 from the Mamata government to go to the registrar general and get the case mentioned.
00:43 Abhishek Manu Singh and Gopal Shankar Narayanan from West Bengal had told the Supreme Court
00:49 that the High Court has ordered the transfer of the case to the CBI and that the case papers
00:54 and Shah Jahan Sheikh should be handed over to the CBI.
00:58 However, the Supreme Court's backer said that the process should be followed.
01:04 On Tuesday, the Calcutta High Court ordered the handover of the Yachika to the CBI.
01:14 The court also ordered the Mamata government to hand over the accused Shah Jahan Sheikh
01:19 to the CBI by evening.
01:22 However, the Bengal police did not hand over the custody to the CBI team.
01:27 The Supreme Court accused the Rajya Police of being a "partisan" by giving evidence
01:34 to the High Court.
01:38 They told the court that on 5th January, a crowd of about 1000 people attacked the officers
01:45 of the Sheikh's house after the EDK FIR.
01:52 The Sheikh was arrested after 40 years of ongoing cases against him.
02:00 After the Sheikh's arrest, the Rajya Sargarh handed over the case to the CID.
02:07 The Rajya Sargarh claimed that the Sheikh's CBI custody was used to deny the case.
02:13 The case may have been transferred to the CBI, but the maximum police custody of the accused
02:19 is still 14 days.
