Hopkins on Practice Facility

UW coach Mike Hopkins sized up the new basketball facility now being built.

00:04 Looks like they started yesterday.

00:05 >> It's amazing.

00:06 The construction to have a place that's equitable for the women and

00:11 us to have a home and to be able to play and some place to call home.

00:17 I think we're one of probably in power five conferences,

00:22 probably arguably probably maybe only school in power five that didn't have

00:26 their own indoor facility.

00:28 And so to be able to have that from recruiting to just quality life

00:32 performance, when we had the Mellow Center in Syracuse,

00:37 like every area of our program enhanced academically.

00:41 The facilities, just a place to call home,

00:45 the players lived in the gym shooting a lot of pride,

00:50 honoring alumni like you go in, it's like wow.

00:53 And so that's really, really exciting and exciting for

00:58 the future of Washington basketball.

01:03 >> What type of amenities will this place have?

01:08 >> It's gonna have, it won't have the offices in there.

01:12 We'll have our own offices, but it's all about the training and

01:17 them having an area where they can go.

01:19 And you struggle with practice times, you struggle with those types of things.

01:25 It's gonna be great for men's and women's basketball.

01:28 It's also gonna be great for women's volleyball.

01:32 We fight all the time, not fight, but there's struggle with times and

01:38 practice times and we'll have so much more flexibility.

01:42 And it's just gonna be great for really everybody.

01:46 There's also, they're gonna change the front area where it can be a congregation

01:51 place for boosters, alumni, game day, football, basketball.

01:55 The plans are beautiful.
