00:00 On the penultimate day, Alexander Vlasov produced a powerful finish to win up the
00:08 Madone d'Hotel for a first victory in nearly two years. Randy McNulty dug deep to hold on to yellow.
00:14 2005 hailed the last American winner of Paris Nice, the UAE rider, with a fight to hold out.
00:20 Yeah, a mix of everything, excitement, nervous, tired, but in the end it's gonna be an aggressive
00:27 day so we'll give everything. It's hard to say, I mean it's been a really tough week but I think
00:33 everyone is suffering I hope, but yeah we'll see. It'll be really aggressive, especially the last
00:37 two climbs, I hope. The US with two chances to end 18 years of hurt, yet Matteo Jorgensen riding in
00:45 his home from home. His favorite training climb propelled the 24-year-old to the biggest title
00:49 of his career. Today there's yeah, lots and lots of things that can happen but the good news is I
00:55 know the stage well and yeah I've watched many many editions of this race and this last stage
01:01 is probably like the best bike race of the year so it'll be good for the viewers that's for sure.
01:05 Or could Remco Evenepoel make it a three-way fight, in any case all set for a lively conclusion
01:11 to Paris Nice 2024? It's gonna be a bit of the feeling on the moment itself and
01:18 see how the race develops and then whenever there's a good situation we might try,
01:25 but yeah 30 seconds is quite a lot but yeah we will have to see and read the race very well.
01:32 A short explosive stage for the last ride of the 82nd Paris Nice, plenty challenges on the last
01:42 track. Three category two ascents and a category one climb before a long difficult drag up to the
01:48 summit at Col d'Aize with segments at 13 percent. Then a much punchier and steeper climb of Col des
01:55 Quatre Chemins preceding a fast drop back to the coastline and La Promenade des Anglais.
02:00 The first wave of attack saw Campenaert out alone, pithy first then Jacobs dropped.
02:13 Lotto Destinies Belgian all alone with more than 80 kilometers to go after kicking up La Cote de
02:18 l'Evin. Campenaert's up and over the first of five climbs of the day around a minute in advance of
02:24 the first of the two chasing groups, the peloton at 1 minute 30. The group of GC favorites yet to
02:29 catch the second group on the road Chadmaz Pedersen at the front. The green jersey holder pacing for
02:37 Mathieu Scalamusa. Scaroni earning enough king of the mountain points to level with Mathieu
02:41 Bourgodeaux who had dropped out of the back of the peloton. Campenaert's caught at the foot of
02:47 the Cote de Pays. And then Remco Evenepoel kicked to stretch things. Only the strongest would survive.
02:59 Oh here we go again it's Remco Evenepoel not hanging around. This time McNulty a little bit
03:08 quicker to respond. Jorgensen's quickly onto the tail of Scalamusa but Scalamusa
03:12 not finding it so easy to close the gap. McNulty in need of support he finally found a teammate
03:19 to try and bridge the gap to the leading group. Three kilometers from the summit another brutal
03:25 attack. You win by digging to the depths of resources. The Belgian a master of it. McNulty
03:32 unable to respond as Alexander Vlasov is the only one willing to try and follow the wheel of
03:39 Jorgensen in covering the break. The Russian making it a front three while down the road
03:45 McNulty knew his yellow jersey dreams were blowing up. He started the day just four seconds ahead of
03:50 Jorgensen. McNulty took off in a desperate attempt to try and salvage something from today as the
03:56 descent turned into the climb at Côte d'Azur. Evenepoel had led up but a sign of strength from
04:02 the American moving ahead of the pseudo quickster leader for maximum bonus seconds haul.
04:07 Nobody able to help the Maillot of McNulty as the gap only got more daunting.
04:17 Stage victory between three the destiny of the Paris Nice title between just two. Defending
04:25 from the front having seen Evenepoel lead up the majority of the climb.
04:28 The chasing pack unable to make up the time and then Vlasov finally cracked. That left Remco
04:37 versus Jorgensen. The title not in doubt. Evenepoel and Jorgensen speeding towards
04:43 La Promenade des Anglais which just the stage honors up for grabs.
04:51 Remco Evenepoel has done all the riding today. The Belgian national road race champion heading
04:56 to second overall. Jorgensen will ride in with nobody's not concerned about that.
05:01 Remco Evenepoel can at least celebrate stage success but it's Matteo Jorgensen that is your
05:07 overall winner. No first Belgian win since 98 but his week ending on a high. An aero bullet looking
05:13 forward to a first tour de France that will finish in Nice.
05:16 I'm shaking so it's just a new experience. I'm excited to be back in Nice.
05:31 Emotional win for Jorgensen. His first major stage race in the world tour after winning the tour of
05:36 Oman last year. A new team and an incredible launch pad for his career. I'm shaking so it's
05:45 just a huge moment for me and I'm super happy and proud and thankful for all my teammates and the
05:51 team and yeah just feeling a lot of emotions at once. Jorgensen timed his ascent into yellow
05:58 perfectly. Evenepoel second. McNulty settling on the podium with Scalamusa in fourth.
06:04 The green jersey changing on the final day as Evenepoel nabbed enough points.
06:12 The Belgian taking it from Maz Pedersen. The Dane slipping to fourth. Scalamusa and Jorgensen on the
06:19 points podium. Evenepoel rewarded for his climbing performance the king of the mountain. The Belgian
06:25 champion ending three clear of Bourgodou who held on to second the same points as Skorone.
06:30 Jorgensen grabbed yellow meaning he held on to his white jersey. The best in the quality field
06:39 as well as the best under 25 rider ahead of Remco and Scalamusa. Roglic versus Evenepoel never
06:45 materialized. The young guns put on a show. Mathieu Jorgensen the first US winner in 18 years.
06:52 A course de soleil shining on his success. Until next year for the 83rd edition of Paris Nice.
