00:00 Are the Niners?
00:01 Marco, I have a question for you.
00:03 This show is called.
00:04 I have a question for you.
00:05 I have a question for you.
00:06 Are the 49ers all in truly?
00:09 Man, I wanted you to go first on this one because I had I know when we're
00:16 messaging back and forth, I can go first.
00:19 Yeah, go for I want you to go first on this one because this one's one of those
00:22 ones where I want to hear what you have to say before I reply to it.
00:25 I mean.
00:26 What have they done?
00:31 They haven't made any move yet.
00:33 They've just kept things together and fired Steve Wills.
00:36 What they did was shuffle some things around and the coaching staff.
00:39 But they brought back Colton McKibbets.
00:41 Everyone said, OK, hey, look, the Niners, they lost, but they're going to overhaul
00:45 their offensive line.
00:46 It's gonna be a different team next year.
00:47 Haven't done that.
00:49 So I don't know.
00:52 It feels like we've heard that they're spending a lot of money on their roster.
00:55 The most expensive roster in the league.
00:56 Seems like the Javon Hargrave deal wasn't necessarily a game changer for him.
01:02 Seems like they're kind of just in wait and see mode right now.
01:05 This way I look at it.
01:06 It was kind of concerning to me is how they are in wait and see mode, but they're also not in.
01:12 Hey, let's let's extend Fred Warner.
01:16 Let's get Charverius Mooney a new contract.
01:19 Let's create some cap space somewhere.
01:21 Like, are we going to keep just running it back with the same play?
01:24 Like if you're truly all in, you're adjusting your team to get better somewhere.
01:28 And I have not seen that yet.
01:30 Like, I truly want to see the 49ers get better at somewhere.
01:34 This free agency, this draft.
01:36 But I don't think they're going to be able to because they don't want to trade away any
01:42 players.
01:42 They don't want to cut any players to save money.
01:44 For example, I don't see juice getting cut.
01:46 Like truly how he only plays 40% of the snaps.
01:48 You're going to pay him.
01:51 76 million seven dollars.
01:53 Like what's to me what's crazy is people got more upset about cool.
01:56 McKib is getting a $7 million deal, but juice is getting paid 7 million.
02:01 And the biggest point in the NFL twin in the NFL was to have a quarterback protect your
02:05 quarterback.
02:06 You get after the quarterback, right?
02:08 That doesn't do any of those.
02:10 No, no, he doesn't.
02:12 He's a fancy run blocker who goes in motion.
02:15 So that's where I'm like, wait, we're mad that Colin got extended for seven.
02:20 But then a fullback, a glorified offensive weapon.
02:23 Don't call an offensive weapon.
02:25 Don't call a guy who had 19 touches this year, an offensive weapon.
02:28 No, an offensive decoy.
02:30 That's what he is.
02:32 Decoys a decoy.
02:34 He's expensive decoy.
02:35 Do the Niners have any?
02:37 Braden will can Braden Willis do what he does?
02:39 I don't know about Braden Willis, but another tight end could do what he does.
02:44 Or they could become more of a three wide receiver offense.
02:47 And Jawan Dennings is like the best blocking wide receiver in football.
02:50 So there's a lot of ways they could run.
02:52 They don't need use check to run the ball.
02:53 No, they don't.
02:55 No, I mean, look what the Rams do.
02:57 The Rams, the Rams went away from that fullback and they went three receivers.
03:01 So they use their third receiver tie ends either way.
03:04 Rule.
03:05 Yeah.
03:06 So here's the thing, like coming into the free agency, a lot of people were talking
03:10 about, you know, the Niners are technically over the cap, but man, they could create cap
03:14 space in so many different ways if they needed to.
03:17 You know, they could restructure Debo.
03:19 They could restructure the various ward.
03:22 They could restructure Fred Warner and create 20, 30, 40 million.
03:26 Yeah.
03:26 If they want to spend a lot more money, but they're already spending about $300 million
03:31 on this team this year, and it's possible that just won't create the cap space.
03:35 Like when they redid Colton McKibbets his contract, one way to look at that is that's
03:40 how they're creating cap space this year.
03:42 And it's not a lot.
03:42 It's not 15.
03:44 I mean, they could restructure Debo, but that would make it harder to trade them next year.
03:48 And they might want the flexibility to trade them next year.
03:51 They might just bite the bullet and pay him $28 million this year.
03:54 To me, which to me just tells me you're not all in.
03:57 Like if you're exactly all in, like they're making moves, like you can't say we're all
04:02 in this year.
04:02 We understand that our window with Brock pretty of him having a cheap contract is now.
04:08 And then just purely going completely off what you're saying, not creating no cap space,
04:12 not doing any extra moves in free.
04:14 We already have an expensive team.
04:16 What do you want from us?
04:16 That's you're running much better than the Lions, and they're going to make a bunch of
04:21 moves this offseason.
04:22 To be like, that's to me where I'm concerned is like everyone else is getting better in
04:27 the NFL, but the 49ers and that's where I'm getting better.
04:31 Lions are young and getting better.
04:32 Packers are young and getting better.
04:33 Niners are old and Santa Pat.
04:35 And that's the concern.
04:38 The biggest word he said is old.
04:40 They're getting old.
04:41 People don't want to admit that the Niners are getting old.
04:43 They truly don't want to admit that they're truly getting old.
04:47 What happens when you start getting older is you start getting more injured.
04:50 You start getting slower and all the younger teams are going to start catching up to you.
04:54 For example, the Lions were right there.
04:57 The Niners are right there with the Niners, and they're completely catching up.
05:01 So for me, I think the Niners need to be truly all in go get a real starting center.
05:07 There's so many starting centers out there in this market.
05:10 You could save 4 million by cutting Jake Brendel.
05:13 Go get a younger, cheaper, younger center who could start and be a really good center for you.
05:18 There's guards out there.
05:19 There's tackles out there.
05:20 But what I'm looking at is this defense hasn't been the same since they lost D4 to injuries
05:26 into retirement.
05:27 That's true.
05:28 There's good enough edge rushes out there that you could create enough cap space around
05:32 10 million by restructuring contracts and extending some go get that speed guy.
05:38 Go get Josh. Go get Bryce Huff from the Jets who knows your system.
05:42 Like you need to get better at some point, and they're not doing it by keeping chase
05:46 younger.
05:47 They're not doing it by the Hargrave last contract last year was terrible.
05:51 I thought that was a terrible contract.
05:52 So they're not a Hargrave deal.
05:56 They're not is like haunting them now.
05:58 I mean, he can't stop the run, and he's not a dominant pass rusher, and he's really expensive,
06:02 and he's over.
06:02 He's 31.
06:03 Yikes.
06:06 So to be to be all in grant, what would if you were the Niners, you're the quality quality
06:10 control to be all in what move are you making or what are you truly doing to say I'm all
06:16 in.
06:16 I don't see how the Niners can bring back the same starting five on their offensive line
06:21 and say that they're all in the offensive line is a problem.
06:24 So whether it's center guard right tackle, there needs to be a big addition to this offensive
06:31 line.
06:32 Otherwise, it's the same offensive line.
06:35 I don't take this team as seriously.
06:37 Sorry.
06:37 Now, if they go out and get Khalil Mac, that's a game changer.
06:41 But are they going to go have another extremely high price defensive lineman in his 30s?
06:47 Third one, maybe not.
06:48 I had something interesting.
06:50 Someone tell me.
06:51 So what a family friend we're talking, and he was like, why go get address?
06:56 He was like, why?
06:57 He was like, the NFL isn't going to let you in the Super Bowl.
06:59 They're not going to let the address is when the Super Bowl.
07:01 That's a great point.
07:02 I can't agree with that.
07:04 And frankly, they're not necessarily replacing D for they're replacing Samson Ebocom, who
07:10 was terrific for this defense.
07:11 They had a number one defense with him.
07:13 He was great at setting the edge, and he was a pretty good pass rusher.
07:18 They could get that guy three down the end, who was really good against the run.
07:22 They'd be in good shape because it's not like Hargrave is going to stop the run.
07:25 And that kind of player is not going to break the bank like you know, Samson Ebocom not
07:31 breaking the bank at all.
07:33 I mean, it's not Hassan Redick.
07:35 Maybe it's Josh Sweat.
07:38 No, he's not that good against the run.
07:41 I don't know.
07:41 I don't know who it is.
07:43 They definitely need to get better in the secondary.
07:45 That's where you're going to win championships.
07:47 If you look at the past few teams to win championships, their secondary is playing
07:51 out of elite level.
07:52 Their D line is playing at a solid level.
07:54 For example, look at the Kansas City Chiefs, who just beat the Niners.
07:57 Elite secondary, elite secondary.
07:59 No, no one outside of Chris Jones on the D line was.
08:04 Imposing.
08:04 Yeah, it seems like the Niners defense really doesn't have like an 11.
08:10 Like it's not 11 deep, whether they're a nickel or base, that third linebacker, that
08:15 third cornerback is just a liability.
08:18 So they need you can't have your third corner be Ambry Thomas or Logan Ryan.
08:24 It's got to be someone better than that.
08:25 You're in nickel way too much for every Thomas to be playing 60% of the snap.
08:30 70% of the snaps.
08:31 They got to get better at that spot.
08:32 I got someone for you, Grant.
08:34 The Niner should make a trade, whether they use their draft capital and free agency to
08:40 go get a corner.
08:41 Rumors are Greg Newsome wants a new contract.
08:45 Greg Newsome is potentially on the trade block.
08:49 He leaked court elite young corner.
08:51 His contract, he has two years of two years of team control, barely going to be 24 in
08:57 this year.
08:59 You go out, you get a good corner who's not going to be making much money.
09:02 Give up a second round pick for him.
09:04 Like what do you have to lose?
09:06 You have a giving up a second round pick for two years of team control where you could
09:10 extend him next year.
09:12 Let him play on his fifth year option.
09:14 That's I think what they should do.
09:16 Go trade with the Browns who have Denzel Ward, who's an expensive corner.
09:19 They also have Martin Emerson, who was last year was a rookie and played phenomenal.
09:22 Go out and get Greg Newsome.
09:24 Go make a big splash like that.
09:26 I'm with you, man.
09:27 I think you should make the bigger move at corner.
09:29 You could get a solid player like someone maybe not as good as Samson Ebicom, but better
09:34 than Cleland Farrell, a solid three down base end.
09:37 And then if you have just a better run defense and no weaknesses in your secondary, your
09:43 pass rush is going to get home.
09:44 You're going to be in third and long situations.
09:48 You're going to get coverage sacks like you have more than enough talent on his defense
09:52 to have a great pass rush.
09:53 So fix everything else.
09:55 The night has kept trying to add to their pass rush last year, and it wasn't working
09:58 because they couldn't stop the run.
10:00 Oh, it's at Chase Young.
10:03 Oh, but he can't stop the run either.
10:04 It's third and three.
10:06 I'm just saying.
10:07 If you look at if you look at the Browns, like, look at their draft picks, they have,
10:11 I believe, five draft picks this year.
10:12 They have a second, a third, a fifth, a sixth and a seventh.
10:16 I'm sure they would love an extra second and a fourth.
10:18 I'm sure they would love that.
10:19 They already have two really good corners.
10:22 Martin Emerson, Denzel Ward allows them to add to their team.
10:26 They're going to have to eventually pay you some after this year.
10:29 They're not going to pay him $20 million that Denzel Ward is already commanding.
10:33 Go get him.
10:35 That's how you that's how you're truly all and go get that.
10:37 Greg, go get Greg Newsome.
10:39 Let him play outside.
10:40 You keep the nominal in or inside that nickel.
10:43 Now you have an elite secondary across the board.
10:45 You want a championship get better.
10:48 Thank you.
10:49 Because you're again, you're not going to win the Super Bowl with your D line getting
10:53 held and the Niners are going to complain about it, but that's just the way it is.
10:56 They're going to get held.
10:58 Moises Rosales says, when will you look at Kyle standing in the way?
11:00 Bosa looks at Trump.
11:01 What a photo op that was all day, every day.
11:06 Kim says, Penix Jr.
11:08 Please.
11:09 Boy, all day, every day.
11:13 Okay.
11:15 All right.
11:16 That name is dangerous, man.
11:17 Every time I see them, like, do I have to read it?
11:19 Do I have to?
11:20 You just got to call him Michael.
11:22 Michael Penix.
11:23 Okay.
