00:00 Over here, Angela Bishop from Network 10 Australia.
00:03 G'day. Congratulations to you both.
00:05 Thank you.
00:06 Billie, you've just won your second Oscar at just 22 years of age,
00:10 making a lot of us in here wonder what we've been doing with our time.
00:14 So, wonderful. Congratulations.
00:15 You also mentioned your teachers, which I thought was beautiful.
00:19 What would you say to a young person right now at school
00:23 dreaming of a life in music?
00:26 Wow.
00:27 Um, I would say, like, don't do it for other people.
00:36 Don't do it for, like, numbers or for, like, I don't know,
00:42 some sort of specific, like, fame.
00:45 That's just really not ever something that I think anyone would should be,
00:50 like, moving forward.
00:51 And I want everyone to be doing something that they feel passionate about
00:55 and that they feel proud of and that makes them feel, like,
00:58 the best version of themselves.
01:00 And, um, I don't know.
01:02 I would say that you've got time.
01:04 I remember being 12, believe it or not,
01:07 and seeing this, like, musical and sobbing my eyes out
01:11 because I was like, "Damn, I'm a failure,
01:13 and I'm not going to be able to... I'm not going to have a career."
01:15 - Matilda. - I was 12 years old
01:16 and I was watching Matilda, a lot on Broadway.
01:19 And it was amazing. My God.
01:21 And I was bawling in the, like, back of nosebleeds,
01:24 and I was like, "I'm never going to amount to anything
01:27 because I'm not in Matilda."
01:28 - And I would just say... - Over the hill.
01:29 Give yourself some time and do what you love.
01:33 And I know that's kind of easier said than done
01:35 because some of us don't really know what we love.
01:37 Um...
01:40 But you'll figure it out. You'll find it.
01:43 Final question, number 238.
01:45 - Hello. - Hi, again.
01:47 Hi, I'm Mia Levacino with Letterboxd.
01:49 Hello, Billy and Phineas.
01:51 Congratulations on your second Oscar and Barbie's first.
01:54 Barbie has actually won another prize tonight.
01:56 It is the most re-watched Best Picture nominee
01:59 according to the Letterboxd community.
02:01 And it's the most popular film in Letterboxd history.
02:06 So what do you put that super, super passionate response down to
02:10 in terms of the songs or otherwise?
02:13 Um, I think it's down to a lot of things.
02:15 I think it's great storytelling.
02:17 I think people went into that movie expecting to see a spectacle
02:21 and expecting to laugh.
02:22 And I think that Greta and Margot brought a lot more to that.
02:27 And I think that in terms of, you know, re-watch value
02:30 or whatever you're attributing that to,
02:31 you know, when we went into that movie for the first time
02:34 to think about writing a song for it,
02:36 we thought, "Oh, this is, you know,
02:39 "this is so much more than we thought we were going in to see."
02:42 We were so moved by it.
02:43 So just such an honour to be a part of the family.
02:46 I think it made a lot of people feel very seen.
02:48 And I think that's, um, that can be rare, especially as a woman.
02:52 And I think that was, that really resonated
02:55 and I think travelled the world of feeling seen and heard
02:58 and understood, you know.
03:01 Congratulations.
03:02 What's happening during the show that you're all laughing at?
03:03 You guys are watching something?
03:04 (laughing)
03:06 Thank you very much.
03:06 Congratulations, thank you very much.
03:08 Have a good one, guys.
