00:03 Singapore is making it easier for commuters to enter and leave the city-state.
00:08 From March 19 onwards, drivers arriving and departing Singapore via Woodlands and Tuas
00:12 checkpoints will only need to scan a QR code instead of using their passports,
00:17 which they can use for every person in the vehicle.
00:20 The move would see overall wait times be reduced by around 30%, Bloomberg reported.
00:26 As travel picks up in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic,
00:30 Singapore has also been adopting new technologies at Changi Airport
00:33 that allow visitors to clear its checkpoints without having to use their passports.
00:37 The Singapore Government-set manual counters at all passenger halls
00:41 will gradually be replaced by about 800 automated lanes from the first quarter of 2024.
00:46 Bloomberg also reported that the move would benefit the upcoming RTS Link project
00:51 between Singapore and Johor Bahru, scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026.
