00:03 These are the rest of the games.
00:04 All these games are gonna tip
00:06 really in the next hour, hour and a half.
00:09 They're the rest of the late afternoon
00:12 tips in these conference tournament games.
00:13 I wanna get them in now because one of them
00:16 is going to tip at the top of the hour.
00:18 And you've already told me
00:20 that you have some significance in this game,
00:21 which is the start of the day at the Big East
00:24 between Xavier and Butler.
00:26 That will be a four o'clock East tip in about 15, 20 minutes
00:30 over at the Garden.
00:31 Right now, Xavier, minus the one and a half,
00:35 is the favorite in that game.
00:36 Second game of the day in the Mountain West,
00:38 Colorado State's laying 14 and a half to San Jose State.
00:42 St. Bonny's laying eight, six and a half, excuse me,
00:45 to LaSalle.
00:46 And UCLA, after this Washington-USC game,
00:50 will play Oregon State, where they're laying six and a half.
00:53 Of course, it has not been a good year
00:55 for Mick Cronin and the Bruins, Coach,
00:58 but in a conference like that,
01:01 would it completely stun you if UCLA went
01:04 and won a couple games here over the next few days?
01:06 Wouldn't stun me, Coach.
01:08 Wouldn't stun me.
01:09 - It wouldn't stun me one bit, Carver,
01:11 because UCLA, for the most part,
01:15 during the Pac-12 season,
01:16 really tightened the screws defensively.
01:18 See, folks, when you get into this time of year,
01:22 I personally think teams that defend
01:25 are the teams I look at, right?
01:27 We have the game slowdown, half court,
01:29 and then the ability to say,
01:31 if you play a team that can't create their own shots,
01:34 folks, when you get to this conference tournament,
01:36 I'm just gonna speak quickly, Carver,
01:38 I have some experience from being a Division I assistant
01:41 for my five years.
01:42 When you know who you're playing in a conference tournament,
01:46 you watch the last two games you play, one or two games,
01:50 and you're watching the previous five.
01:52 So you're watching about five, six games a team.
01:55 Now, most teams have three assistant coaches.
01:57 So one person will be the lead on that game,
02:00 the game you're playing,
02:01 and then the other two assistants will split up
02:04 and take the next round matchups.
02:06 What am I telling you?
02:07 Everything is scouted.
02:09 There's not one thing you could do
02:11 in, Carver, like three, four days of practice
02:13 to completely change your outlook.
02:15 So to me, teams that defend really well in the half court
02:19 tend to have an advantage.
02:21 UCLA, as bad as it has been,
02:23 they've defended well at times, Carver High.
02:25 It would not, I would not be shocked
02:28 if anybody made a run in the Pac-12.
02:30 I just don't believe in Arizona.
02:32 I'm stunned that they're this much minus money
02:34 to win it all.
02:35 - Yeah, it stunned me too.
02:38 And I know if your quote unquote coach
02:40 took the whole body of work,
02:42 they're so much better than everybody else
02:45 in that conference this year,
02:47 they could easily lose.
02:49 DeCoursey told me yesterday,
02:51 they lost to the three bottom teams in that conference.
02:54 He says he can't remember a conference champion
02:57 ever doing that before in the regular season.
02:59 We lose it to the three worst teams in the league
03:03 during the regular season,
03:04 and Arizona accomplished that this year in the Pac-12.
03:07 So you're right, coach.
03:08 That is one to definitely look at here.
03:11 Give me your thoughts on this Butler-Xavier game,
03:14 which is still at one and a half for Xavier,
03:16 152 and a half.
03:18 That's a heavy total, coach,
03:20 for the first game of the day at the Garden as well.
03:22 - That is a heavy total.
03:26 To me, I'm gonna think the Butler did it.
03:29 I'm gonna go ahead and take Butler in this matchup.
03:31 Listen, Xavier and his team
03:33 was really predicted to be a lot better.
03:36 Yes, folks, they had a ton of injuries,
03:39 including the center got knocked out
03:41 before the season started.
03:43 Butler has hung around a little bit.
03:46 So plus one and a half.
03:47 I'm gonna go ahead and take Butler here.
03:49 Listen, neither team comes down in stretches,
03:52 played particularly great.
03:53 Xavier hasn't covered the last three.
03:55 Butler has covered the last two,
03:57 but before that cover high, they missed a lot.
03:59 And remember, folks, 72-66 a couple of days ago,
04:03 the end of regular season was Butler over Xavier.
04:07 So I'm gonna go ahead,
04:08 and even though they are the better seed,
04:11 they're the underdog,
04:12 give me the Butler Bulldogs, plus a point and a half.
