00:00What do you think, Scoop, of this NLCS, 9-0 last night, Flaherty was dealing, the Mets
00:12couldn't get on base, couldn't get hits, and then today, Viento's Grand Slam breakfast,
00:19and they're up 6-0, both games, 9-0, 6-0, you can't even make this up.
00:25It's going to be a long series.
00:27I mean, look, that's just the nature of what the Dodgers are at this point.
00:32They're uber-talented on offense, they have no pitching at this point, one or two guys
00:37that can get them five or six innings.
00:39And so, Scott, when you play against an elite team like the Mets, and they may beat the
00:44Mets and get to the World Series, but for the Dodgers, because of this deficiency in
00:48their rotation, no matter how you look at it, and I understand they had 33 scoreless
00:52innings going into it, eventually, they're going to get bombed, and that's what happened
00:56today.
00:57And by the way, it's probably going to happen again in this series, so it's hard for the
00:59Dodgers to just roll without having starting pitching like Kershaw, like Buehler, I mean,
01:04these things don't exist anymore.
01:06And so, it is Flaherty, and then a bullpen, and then Yamamoto, and then a bullpen.
01:11And that's just not sustainable to win a series quickly.
01:15Now, can they win the whole thing?
01:17Absolutely.
01:18I mean, on offense, who's more talented than they are?
01:20So this is not all that surprising to me.
01:22I think the Mets are very much in this.
01:23I think they'll be in it throughout, and it probably goes six or seven games.
01:28Before I ask you about the Mets, Kershaw said today he's coming back next year.
01:33I almost fell over, like he's shot.
01:36Yeah, look, you know, the thing is with a guy like Kershaw, Scott, is that, like Roger
01:42Clemens used to do in the past, you may remember, he'd sit out like April, May, and then try
01:47to come back June, July, August.
01:48You see that now with Verlander, who sits out time, Scherzer, who sits out time, the
01:52same thing will happen with Kershaw.
01:53So Scott, what'll happen is he'll go to spring training, he'll pitch, pitch on the backfields,
01:59make some minor league starts.
02:00You'll see him in like May or June, and then they'll just preserve him for the postseason.
02:04So when he says he's coming back next season, I think it's legit when, you know, if the
02:09FanDuel Sportsbook posted a 14.5 starts on the season for Clayton Kershaw, of course,
02:14I'd bet the under.
02:15But I'd bet the over on like 10.5 from August, September, and in October, because that's
02:21all they really want him for.
02:23So, you know, Minaya has blown my mind, because you said to me in the break, he's never been
02:29good.
02:30He's always been a mess.
02:31But boy, has he been hot for the last couple of months.
02:35I saw him pitch in person earlier this year, and like he wasn't good at all.
02:38And he's been on several teams in several years.
02:41He's never been able to put it together.
02:43In fact, Scott, I mean, I have to jog my memory here.
02:46Back in March, Minaya pitched in a spring training game.
02:51I think it was against the Marlins.
02:52I don't think it was a regular season game.
02:54He pitched a spring training game.
02:55He got absolutely crushed, and he cut all his hair off.
02:59He cut all his hair.
03:00I mean, he had this huge haircut from a spring training game.
03:03And I remember sitting there with my son.
03:04My son's like, oh, this guy's not going to have a good year.
03:06And here we are.
03:08It's so funny what happens in the postseason.
03:10Heroes are made.
03:11You never know what's going to happen.
03:14But he is hot and pitching great at the right time.
03:15And that's all that matters.
03:16Now, the question is, can he cash in on some of this?
03:19And my guess is some team will probably take a shot on him.
03:22It reminds me a lot of Jordan Montgomery last year.
03:24Now, Montgomery was a better pitcher over the course of his career than Minaya was.
03:28But look at what Montgomery got paid off, what, essentially two, three good months in
03:33Texas last year?
03:34And he didn't have one good start, I don't think, all year this year.
