The Cleveland Guardians have yet to find a solution at shortstop as Opening Day nears. Brayan Rocchio, Gabriel Arias, Tyler Freeman, José Tena, Angel Martínez, and Daniel Schneemann all remain in the mix as potential candidates.

00:05 I mean, you know, there's a number of guys
00:08 that we've played there.
00:09 You know, think of Roqueo Arias, Freeman,
00:11 Tena, Angel Martinez.
00:13 All five of these guys have seen some--
00:15 and Daniel Schneeman as well has played some shortstop
00:17 and done very well.
00:18 So kind of six guys that have shown well in camp.
00:22 And like I said, we're not just evaluating them
00:25 in game off of results.
00:27 The way all of these guys are attacking their practice
00:29 with Rugio Doran and Kai Correa
00:33 is really telling of their talent level as well.
00:35 And so to say how things are shaking out,
00:38 there you have it.
00:39 So yeah, we're still going.
00:42 I don't know if I would have wanted somebody to emerge.
00:45 I mean, I think it's good.
00:46 You know, all of them are doing things really well.
00:49 We can nitpick little things here or there,
00:51 but as a whole, that entire group that I mentioned
00:53 at shortstop has shown a lot of promise
00:56 and a lot of good things.
00:58 And so I'm excited about that, where we are today.

01:04 The nature of it is that as we approach opening day,
01:07 we're going to have some difficult decisions to make.
01:09 And that's not limited to just shortstop.
01:11 We've covered things in the bullpen.
01:13 We'll have to make some difficult decisions, choices

01:16 But that's natural for this time of year.
01:18 What we're hopeful is, as Steven said, that each of those guys,
01:21 because they're all young players,
01:23 can continue to put in the work every day
01:25 to continue to get better and improve.
01:27 And that's all they can control.
01:28 And then in the end, we'll have to make a decision
01:30 as to who we go with, at least for opening day.
