00:00 Read Drummond is setting the record straight on her weight loss.
00:04 The Pioneer Woman star takes to her Facebook page March 12th announcing to followers that
00:09 she's updated a 2021 post detailing her weight loss journey.
00:13 In the post, the 55-year-old shares that she hasn't used any weight loss medications to
00:18 help her drop a staggering 60 pounds, writing, "I did not take Ozempic, Wigovi, or similar
00:24 medications.
00:25 I know this has been a big topic in recent years, so I thought I'd add this paragraph.
00:30 I support anyone who has success using the above medications.
00:34 I know they have been an absolute godsend for so many people.
00:38 I have friends who've experienced incredible results."
00:41 Medications like Ozempic and Wigovi, which were introduced to help those with diabetes,
00:45 have soared in popularity in recent years with people looking to lose weight.
00:49 However, the blogger admits that when she started her weight loss journey three years
00:53 ago, she'd never heard of Ozempic or other similar medications, explaining, "For me,
00:59 the simple, boring truth is that when I set out to lose weight in January of 2021, I had
01:04 never heard of that class of drugs.
01:06 And to be honest, if I had heard of them and had seen all the results that are out there,
01:11 I might have been tempted to try them, but I simply didn't know those drugs existed then."
01:16 And while the mom of four knows about the medications now, she's still chosen not to
01:20 use them, saying, "Today, even though I have gained a few pounds up and down, I still have
01:25 not chosen that option, but you'll never hear a second of judgment from me about people
01:30 who choose that direction."
01:32 The cookbook author first started detailing her weight loss journey in May 2021, when
01:36 she had lost nearly 40 pounds, taking to her TikTok account at the time to share the lifestyle
01:42 changes she'd made.
01:43 "Hi, I'm Ree Drummond, the Pioneer Woman.
01:46 You may know me from my cooking show, but I also have cookbooks, a cooking website.
01:51 I can't get away from food, and I love to eat.
01:54 Of course, it crept up on me through the years, especially during COVID.
01:59 So starting in January, I decided to get busy and lose some weight.
02:03 No gimmicks at all.
02:04 I just cut calories, exercised more, lifted a lot of weights.
02:09 I look better, but I feel so much better, and that's what really counts.
02:13 I'm still a goofball.
02:14 I just have a lot more energy.
02:16 Be afraid."
02:17 Ree later revealed that she made the decision to get healthier after, quote, "hitting rock
02:21 bottom," telling Entertainment Tonight in September 2021, "I basically hit rock bottom
02:27 eating chips and salsa one night.
02:29 I went a little overboard, but I thought that night, 'I'm going to start tomorrow.
02:33 I'm doing something different.'
02:35 And I just started, and I almost lost 60 pounds now."
02:38 "I'm just going to start tomorrow."
02:39 Ree also revealed that she's planning to start a new business in the fall.
02:40 "I'm just going to start tomorrow."
02:40 "I'm just going to start tomorrow."
02:43 "I'm just going to start tomorrow."
02:43 "I'm just going to start tomorrow."
