Isang travel agency, ipinasara ng DMW dahil sa illegal recruitment
Transcript
00:00 Another travel agency was shut down by the Department of Migrant Workers
00:06 due to illegal recruitment.
00:09 This is the surprise of Sue Jin Kim.
00:12 In front of the utmost protection to our overseas workers,
00:18 the Department of Migrant Workers even strengthened their campaign against illegal recruitment.
00:25 In fact, another illegal recruitment agency was also shut down by the Department of Migrant Workers.
00:33 The agency is a consulting and travel and tours agency.
00:38 But instead of tourists,
00:41 it was a trick of the Department of Migrant Workers
00:44 who wanted to work abroad.
00:48 According to the DMW,
00:49 they received tips from the Migrant Workers Office in Prague
00:53 and the so-called agency's modus
00:56 that uses social media platforms to trick those who want to work in Poland.
01:03 In addition, it also operates without a license or authorization from the DMW.
01:12 It also promised to recruit workers in Poland
01:15 such as warehouse men, factory workers, and nurses
01:19 who have monthly wages of P80,000 to P100,000.
01:24 It is confirmed in the Filipino community and our labor attache in Poland.
01:30 We just don't know the number yet.
01:34 Because of this, the agency started surveillance operations in November last year.
01:41 And it was found out that they are asking for P200,000
01:45 to P350,000 processing fees from their applicants.
01:50 And the so-called processing fee
01:53 can be paid by one down payment or three installments
01:57 but cannot be refunded.
02:00 Because of this, the officials and their people are facing complaints
02:05 up to illegal recruitment
02:06 and they are also blacklisted for joining the government's overseas recruitment program.
02:12 We are not happy with what this travel agency is doing.
02:16 So we decided to swoop down.
02:19 We closed it.
02:22 And it's up to the official to explain to the fiscal.
02:26 The official explained that
02:28 these kinds of modus are common among illegal recruiters
02:32 who claim to be a visa processing agency,
02:35 job recruitment agency,
02:37 travel agency, or training agency.
02:41 The reason is that businessmen are avoiding the responsibilities
02:45 associated with being a licensed recruitment agency.
02:49 This includes ethical standards,
02:51 accreditation of foreign principles,
02:54 and proper documentation.
02:56 The element of crime in illegal recruitment
02:58 is that they recruit people who claim to be working
03:02 without a license from the DMW.
03:04 They don't need to be paid.
03:07 So the agency reminds our countrymen who want to work abroad
03:12 to be extra careful.
03:14 Check the agency you will join and go through the right process
03:19 so that you don't go home with a headache
03:22 and you should be used to working abroad.
03:24 The official also added that
03:26 they value and take every tip or lead when it comes to illegal operations.
03:33 They also insist that their primary goal is to provide protection
03:37 to all Filipino migrant workers.
03:40 Soojin Kim for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
