00:00 Scottie Scheffler clawed back a five-shot overnight deficit to become the first
00:06 player in the 50-year history of the Players' Championship to successfully
00:11 defend his title. A week after winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the
00:15 American comfortably cemented his status as the world's number one golfer by
00:20 carding a final round eight under par. He spoke following his historic title
00:25 offense which equated to his eighth PGA Tour title. Yeah, yeah it's good to be
00:31 sitting back here again. You know today was another battle, it was a hard-fought
00:35 week. You know a lot of guys played some really good golf this week. You
00:39 know a few of them finished at 19, I finished at 20. That's some really good
00:42 golf around this course. I'm not gonna remember the exact numbers but like
00:47 we're playing at RIV this year and I hit my t-ball and this guy yells out like
00:51 congrats on being number one Scottie. You know 11 more years to go. 11 more
00:57 years to go. Anytime you can be compared to Tiger I think is really special but I
01:02 mean the guy stands alone I think in our game. Brian Harmon was so close yet so
01:08 far at this year's event. He built on a solid start to sign for a 64, the best
01:13 score of the week at one point and put himself into contention at 15 under.
01:18 However it was not meant to be for the American at this year's Players
01:22 Championship which he views as a missed opportunity. I had my chances just
01:27 didn't cash in 400 today. You know proud of the way I fought back.
01:33 You know birdies 7, 8, 9 and birdie on 11. He's just the best player in the world.
01:38 You know and this is a championship golf course and so you know I
01:43 mean as far as if you looked at it on paper you know the best player this
01:48 week won. Yeah it's kind of what you want in a golf tournament. We
01:51 had we all had our chances and he just performed he out executed two or
01:57 three more times than the rest of us. Rory McIlroy's bid for a second Player
02:02 Championship victory received a late rally with birdies on the final three
02:07 holes for a sign of 69 to sit 9 under overall. Away from the course a landmark
02:13 meeting between the PGA Tour player directors and the governor of the Saudi
02:18 Arabian Public Investment Fund for a possible takeover deal took place this
02:22 week. McIlroy had his say on the situation hinting those in charge of
02:27 Live Golf has done a disservice to the PIF. That happened months ago so I'm glad
02:34 that it's happening and you know hopefully that progresses conversations
02:38 and gets us closer to a solution. I see the two entities and I think there's a
02:42 big actually think there's a really big disconnect between PIF and Live. I think
02:45 you've got PIF over here and Live are sort of out there sort of doing their
02:49 own thing. So the closer that we can get to Yasser, PIF and you know hopefully
02:55 finalize that investment you know I think that would be a really good thing.
