Billy Merrin & His Commanders - In Other Words We're Through

Little is known about this British orchestra. Billy Merrin was based in Nottingham, and built up a solid reputation. Thanks to this success he was one of the few provincial bandleaders to enjoy a recording career. In September 1935, having been issued on a variety of labels since early 1932, he began featuring on Woolworth's own nine-inch Crown record. The Commanders played for dancing and the arrangements reflected that in their smooth, impeccably clear and transparent style. This wonderful record was cut in 1934, and the vocalist is Sam Browne.
