Transcript
00:00 The passing of several bills is being awaited in the House of Representatives, including the resolution of both Houses No. 7,
00:07 which is expected to be passed on the third and final reading today.
00:11 Bella Lesmora is in the Central News Live.
00:14 Angelique, since it's the last day of the session of the Congress before the Holy Week break,
00:21 the proceedings here in the House of Representatives are in order.
00:24 And one of the most awaited is the passing of the third and final reading of RBH 7.
00:31 Around 9 in the morning, the various committee hearings here in the House of Representatives
00:37 are being held under the House Committee on Transportation,
00:42 House Committee on Health, and House Committee on Metro Manila Development
00:45 on the important issues and several amendments to the law.
00:49 Based on the House Calendar this month,
00:51 the hearings are also the last day because the session break is about to start.
00:55 But it can still change if House Speaker Martin Romualdez gives the permission
01:00 to hold hearings even during the session break.
01:03 In the press conference earlier,
01:05 House Deputy Speaker J.J. Suarez gave the permission even though the Congress is recessed,
01:10 they will continue their work.
01:12 Later in the plenary session, which is also the last one before the session break,
01:16 the most awaited is the passing of the third and final reading of Resolution of Both Houses No. 7
01:22 that will be passed through the Economic Charter Change.
01:25 Suarez said that this will be the most important contribution of the Camera
01:29 for the expected change of the economy.
01:32 But in the end, the people will decide if the economic change is a lie or not.
01:39 Aside from RBH 7, the priority measures of the administration were also passed by the Camera.
01:45 In the fourth LEDAC meeting yesterday in Malacanang,
01:48 this was also passed by House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
01:51 Romualdez said that of the 19 measures that are the target of the LEDAC
01:54 that will be passed in June for different sectors,
01:57 all of them were passed earlier than the scheduled time.
02:02 As of now, they only have three pending LEDAC priority measures
02:06 that are now being passed by the members of the House of Representatives.
02:09 Angelic, as of now, we are still waiting for the important bills
02:14 that will be passed by the Camera in the third and final reading.
02:18 But we are expecting, Angelic, that the SMLI franchise revoke plan is also included.
02:25 We are also expecting that one of the main things,
02:28 even though it's not yet in the final reading, is the divorce plan, Angelic.
02:33 Okay. So Mela, for our countrymen,
02:37 what does it mean if the Congress is on recess?
02:40 Is it a vacation?
02:41 What should we expect for the coming weeks while they are on session break?
02:47 Angelic, this is also a good opportunity for our countrymen.
02:55 If they are on session break, it doesn't mean that our congressmen are on vacation.
03:00 Because this is part of the Congress' calendar, these session break recesses.
03:04 And Angelic, we are expecting that when there is a session break,
03:08 the congressmen will be focused on their work, on their districts,
03:13 especially here in the Camera, Angelic.
03:15 Because when there is a session, the lawmakers who attended the sessions are required to vote,
03:21 to be involved in the plenary sessions.
03:23 But when there is a session break, this is their time to focus and give the needs of their districts.
03:31 So there is no every 3 p.m. session when there is a session break.
03:35 So Angelic, we are waiting for the speaker of Mualtas to give his order
03:39 if he will allow the hearings to continue.
03:42 Because Angelic allowed it, we are expecting the hearings to continue.
03:45 There is no plenary session but hearings or motor property inquiry can still continue.
03:52 Okay. Thank you very much Mela Lismoras.
03:55 for us.
