00:00 So, it is nice to start during a nice slow time of year where you can just ease into
00:05 it and not worry about anything else happening.
00:08 A couple of things.
00:10 You know, there's going to be a listen and learn tour for me and I'm really looking forward
00:15 to that.
00:16 And it's as much about the why as it is the what.
00:19 And understanding why we are who we are and how we've gotten to where we are.
00:24 And that's going to really inform me.
00:27 And that's a luxury to get to do.
00:28 But there are some things that aren't a luxury that we have to do really quickly.
00:33 One of them is going to happen this weekend where I think this weekend is a little celebration
00:38 of the institution, what game day is doing coming in here and I'll talk about that in
00:41 a second.
00:42 I do want you to know what my goals and objectives are coming in.
00:46 One, I want to win in everything.
00:49 And you know, everybody looks at, everybody in here has a different idea of what winning
00:53 means.
00:54 I know Alexis, I know what winning means to her.
00:56 It's that grade point is going to tick up a notch.
00:58 The graduation rate is going to tick up a notch next year.
01:02 And I know what the president thinks winning is partly is let's get that budget balanced,
01:07 right?
01:08 And do a good job financially.
01:09 But I want to win financially and I want to win academically and I want to win socially.
01:14 I want the department to represent everyone, alums, donors, fans, friends, this community
01:19 in the best possible way.
01:20 And you do that by winning socially, by representing everyone well.
01:24 But by golly, we're going to win competitively.
01:26 We're going to win in everything that we do.
01:29 And there aren't many schools, institutions in the country where you can say that with
01:33 a straight face that it's a priority to win in everything.
