Don't win by 'shouting or screaming' against others, says Anwar

Winning should not be by "shouting or screaming" against others, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said at the Malaysia Madani Executive Dialogue with civil servants on Thursday (March 21) that although the rights of Malays, the Malay language and the Malay Rulers were enshrined and protected in the country through the Federal Constitution and laws, Anwar said that it did not mean that those from the minority communities could be insulted or looked down upon.

Anwar said the minority races must also play their role in ensuring peace and harmony in the country, and urged all parties to stop wasting time talking about outdated and trivial issues but focus on developing the nation further.

00:00 Stop this stupid and stupid discussion.
00:06 Endless in the point of confusion.
00:10 The country must move forward.
00:13 If the country moves forward, it must be based on knowledge.
00:19 New knowledge, digital technology and transformation.
00:24 We must know that in the system, there is an energy transition.
00:31 We must know that we need young people who are well trained.
00:37 Not just T-Vet, engineers, doctors and professionals.
00:40 But higher level.
00:43 And, brothers and sisters, our discussion and speech must be in that direction.
00:48 Yes, it's about values.
00:50 Yes, it's about morals.
00:52 Yes, it's about religious beliefs.
00:54 But yes, it's about the spirit of unity and unity in our hearts.
00:58 There is no benefit if we feel like we are winning by planting the seeds of hatred to others.
01:06 We win because we are great.
01:08 Not because we are discussing other people, other religions, or other minority groups.
01:14 If we talk about Malay, Malay is great.
01:17 It is great because it has a clean leadership.
01:22 The attitude, culture, discipline and integrity.
01:28 To rise as a great country.
01:31 It's not great to be able to plant seeds of hatred to others.
01:37 It's the same with other minority groups.
01:40 China, India, or other ethnic groups.
01:44 They must accept the reality that this country is still a Malay-based country.
01:52 The majority is Malay.
01:55 We must accept that reality with the spirit of unity, justice, and giving space and rights to everyone.
02:05 And I emphasize this because sometimes we are not finished with this discussion.
02:12 This discussion does not win us, the Muslims.
02:15 Faith does not increase, knowledge does not increase, and morality is not improved.
02:21 The economy is still far away.
02:25 The only thing that wins is the scream.
02:28 This is what I remember, the speech of Professor Husein Al-Atas.
02:32 "We and Islam are not finished."
02:34 We can talk about Islam by winning with the scream.
02:38 Not by the action.
02:40 Not by adding more understanding.
02:42 But by screaming to punish people.
02:45 It's worth punishing.
02:48 Weakening, discussing, it's easy.
02:52 So, this is not a political issue.
02:57 But I want to clarify here.
02:59 First, our confidence.
03:02 We must ask ourselves.
03:04 Do we want to keep Malaysia at this level?
03:07 Or do we want to raise our status?
03:10 So that our children's fate is better and more guaranteed than ours.
03:15 That is the question we must answer.
03:17 The inheritor must answer.
03:20 Because Allah has raised the status of humans.
03:23 [Al-Quran 173]
03:25 Allah has exalted the children of Adam.
03:29 We will answer.
03:31 Because, of course, we will do something better.
03:35 Guaranteeing a better future for our children and grandchildren.
03:39 So, if we want to raise this status,
03:50 there are some conditions that we must accept.
03:54 In religion, in culture, in the country.
03:58 Just like we have the religion of Islam,
04:02 in our country we have the institution.
04:05 We have the rules that we must accept.
04:09 We have the rules and laws.
04:12 We must accept the fact that
04:16 even though the majority of Malaysians are putra,
04:22 we must accept the fact that this country still has many religions.
04:29 And to live in peace,
04:32 while Islam is alive and respected,
04:36 and the Malay language is respected,
04:38 and the rights of the Malay putra are defended,
04:42 and the sovereignty of the Malay kings,
04:44 it does not mean at all
04:48 to make it easy, to make it low, or to insult anyone.
04:54 And I have already said,
04:57 it is not a gain.
05:00 We do not win by pointing fingers at others.
05:05 We win only by our integrity,
05:10 our manners,
05:12 our skills,
05:14 our integrity.
05:16 And this must be built.
