00:06 Hello, we're back with another edition of 5 Things to Do, and as we head into the long
00:09 Easter weekend at the end of March, you might have a bit more free time than you thought.
00:13 But how to fill it? Well, let's start with an epic Battle of the Bands competition at
00:17 Lytham's Lauda Pavilion. In partnership with the Blackpool Gazette, five of the region's
00:22 bands will go toe-to-toe for a chance to win career-building prizes. Whether you're wanting
00:26 to find a new hidden gem, or wanting to support the local music scene, this promises to be
00:30 a terrific night. It's on Friday 29th March, and it'll only cost you a tenner.
00:36 And we'll stay with Lauda Pavilion because on the evening after, on Saturday 30th March,
00:40 you can see Paul Young singing and telling stories about his incredible career. Paul
00:45 broke into the big time 40 years ago when No Parlay went straight to number one and
00:49 spawned iconic hits like 'Wherever I Lay My Hat'. Relive the 80s with tickets starting
00:54 at £31.
00:57 Now for something completely different, as they say, because the Duke's Theatre in
01:00 Lancaster has confessions of a Teletubby. Nikki Smedley played Lala, the yellow one,
01:05 in an original series of Teletubbies for six years. Come and hear how she got the job by
01:09 dressing as a bistro table, what it was really like inside one of those surprisingly large
01:13 Teletubby suits, and how the Nunu really worked. You can find out why life on the set of Teletubbies
01:19 might not have been quite what you imagined on Saturday 30th March for £14 a ticket.
01:24 More live music now as we head to Blackburn's King George's Hall to see Big Country in
01:30 action, a special 40th anniversary tour of their second studio album, Steel Town, which
01:35 went straight into the number one slot on the UK album chart in 1984. Big Country will
01:40 be performing songs from the album as well as some classic hits and some live favourites,
01:45 and you can see them and special guests, The Icicleworks, on Saturday 30th March for £35.50.
01:52 Lastly, because it's the Easter holidays, something for the kids, because the Fishergate
01:56 Shopping Centre in Preston is putting on a completely free magic show. Taz, one of the
02:00 UK's best children's entertainers, will be putting on shows at 1 o'clock, 2 o'clock
02:04 and 3 o'clock on Level 2 for three exciting 30-minute shows. Don't miss out on the chance
02:10 to see one of the leading children's and family entertainers in the North West on Saturday
02:14 30th March. I'll include it in next week's episode, but don't forget Egg Rolling in Preston's
02:20 Openham Park on Easter Monday, but until then, have a great Easter, and we'll see you next
02:24 time.
