00:00 irreplaceable veteran trees such as this Darwin oak which is 550 years old we reckon so that is
00:07 wars of the roses we're talking about when this was an acorn so absolutely ancient and they
00:13 shouldn't be cut down at all but apparently it's more important that you should be able to drive
00:18 from A to B than this tree to carry on living here for another few hundred years so we are
00:26 trying to raise money for a legal challenge Shropshire council's given itself planning
00:31 permission we think that they've really they've cut a lot of corners in doing that because it's
00:39 obvious that they haven't taken into account all the impact on beautiful areas like this
00:44 so we want a legal challenge and so we are raising funds for that there's people around
00:49 with buckets and ways of getting money. Are all gathered around the Darwin oak in opposition to
00:54 the Shrewsbury Northwest relief road as you can see behind me there are a lot of Charles Darwin's
01:00 celebrating this tree so yeah we're here in celebration of this tree but also to show
01:08 Shropshire council that they can't possibly take that destructive road scheme ahead.
