00:00 The devastation on Cody's family that this has caused is immeasurable.
00:05 On that evening his mum waved goodbye to him when he went off to have an evening with his friends
00:12 having spent Christmas together for him never to return home.

02:10 - At the time of Cody's murder,
02:23 there was 2000 people in the venue.
02:25 It was dark, there was strobe lighting.
02:28 I had to have officers literally spend months and months
02:32 watching that CCTV frame by frame
02:36 to ensure that every movement, every person was identified
02:41 so that we could very clearly be sure
02:44 and that the right people were brought to justice.

02:49 (men shouting)
02:54 (men shouting)
02:56 - Camera on you?
03:08 - Yeah.
03:09 - So you've been arrested on suspicion of murder.
03:13 That's what I've tortured you at 8.30.
03:16 Do you understand?
03:17 - Yeah.
03:19 - Get him clearly on the body worn from there.
03:22 (men shouting)
03:24 - Okay.
03:32 - A murder.
03:35 - Lots of murders are triggered by minor events,
03:41 but normally not as minor as this.
03:45 The absolute tragedy of this case
03:48 is that the only motive is that on Christmas Eve,
03:52 Remy Gordon happened to be in the same premises
03:56 as Cody Fisher.
03:58 And when Cody Fisher was leaving the premises that evening,
04:01 as most of us have done,
04:02 he accidentally bumped into Remy Gordon.
04:06 For whatever reason, only known to himself,
04:09 Remy Gordon took an absolute affront at that.
04:12 And from that moment onwards,
04:13 seemed determined to carry out some form of retribution.
04:17 Cody's family, they're absolutely devastated.
04:20 And no matter what the outcome and what the sentence is,
04:24 Cody will never be brought back
04:26 and their lives will be changed forever.
04:29 Nationally, knife crime is clearly a huge issue
04:35 and particularly around youngsters
04:37 and the carrying of weapons.
04:39 Obviously as the police, we have a key role to play,
04:42 but putting a stop to knife crime or reducing knife crime
04:46 is not something the police can do alone.
04:49 We need families, parents, communities, schools
04:54 to engage in conversations,
04:56 again, particularly with young people
04:58 to explain the consequences,
05:01 the potential consequences of their actions.
05:03 The split second use of a knife
05:05 can devastate their own life and that of their own families.
