00:00 Talk to me about your design here in the runway.
00:03 So one of the things that really attracts me to doing public art is you get to work in interesting spaces
00:08 and this is certainly one, so being able to come in here and transform it, put all my ideas into this place
00:14 has been exciting. For me I'm trying to take advantage of what's already here, there's the skylights,
00:20 there's 60 metres of arcade, so lots of opportunities for me to build something in response to the space.
00:28 And what's it like seeing your designs come to life?
00:31 It's fantastic, you do the experimenting in the studio and you try the materials, you have renders
00:38 so you have some idea of what it's going to look like, but seeing it all together in real space
00:41 and walking through it and seeing how people respond is very exciting.
00:45 And what was the inspiration behind the colours and the design of the roof?
00:49 So the pattern itself is something that I've worked with in lots of different iterations
00:53 and sculptures and paintings, so it's kind of like my language that I use.
00:58 So I've used it in this instance with light and by creating these fins that go all the way down the arcade.
01:05 The colour itself was generated by a particular type of film and material that I've used in the lights
01:10 and I wanted to use something that I guess changed as you moved down the arcade,
01:14 so rather than it being programmed lighting, where you are standing and looking in relation to the lights
01:20 and make them change colour. So it's a diaphragmatic film and something I've just started working with in this work
01:27 but something I'm interested in using more and more.
