00:00 - 10 rounds of boxing in the super lightweight division.
00:02 - Both you guys, the bell for--
00:03 - As the undefeated Kane Sandoval
00:06 takes on the 2008 Olympian and Javier Molina.
00:11 TJ DeSantis along with Abel Sanchez, Doug Fisher.
00:15 We are live tonight inside Chumash Casino Resorts,
00:18 in beautiful Santa Ynez, California.
00:21 We've arrived at our co-main event
00:22 of Tom Loeffler's Hollywood Fight Nights.
00:25 Appreciate you joining us live on UFC Fight Pass.
00:28 Molina wears the black with gold.
00:30 Kane Sandoval in the black with red.
00:32 We are underway.
00:33 Sandoval coming off a huge victory
00:41 as he got a knockout inside the theater
00:43 at Madison Square Garden last November.
00:45 It's a hot sand for Molina.
00:47 We saw the footage of their weigh-in yesterday
00:56 and that confidence was on display from Kane Sandoval,
00:59 but Molina was barking back at him.
01:01 They were having a nice long conversation
01:03 as they faced off yesterday
01:04 for the final time before the fight.
01:06 - Both guys entered this fight with a lot of confidence.
01:11 Obviously, Sandoval has the confidence
01:13 of a young man who's never tasted defeat.
01:16 He's been active, he's been busy,
01:17 he's got a lot of momentum
01:19 against increasingly better opposition,
01:21 but this is a far lead for him.
01:23 And Javier Molina knows it.
01:26 Javier Molina comes from a boxing family.
01:29 He's got good boxing people around him now
01:31 with his training situation with the puertas.
01:34 And his confidence comes from his experience.
01:38 The fact that he's been in there with guys
01:41 that have proven so much more than Kane Sandoval.
01:44 Of course, Sandoval says, "Hey, those guys weren't me."
01:51 - Right, yeah, they had more experience.
01:52 Yeah, they had heavy hands, but you know.
01:54 - What did he say about one of them?
01:56 - He said, "They were slow as hell."
01:57 Or he said, "Hey, yeah, you were in there with them,
01:59 but did you beat them?"
02:01 - Yeah, he's got confidence, maybe bordering on cockiness,
02:07 but as long as he lives up to his words,
02:11 he has a right to feel the way he feels.
02:12 - There's a fine line between confidence and cockiness,
02:15 and that line is success.
02:16 Simply put, if you are successful,
02:18 you can say whatever you want.
02:19 - That's true, that's a good point.
02:20 But Sandoval, obviously there's some respect here,
02:25 because he usually comes out a lot quicker,
02:27 a lot harder, setting the pace, throwing a lot more punches.
02:30 He's being a little measured by his standards, I'll say.
02:34 - Javier is landing some very clean single shots
02:39 up and down.
02:40 He's landing a good left hook.
02:41 Not hard, but just landing,
02:43 and he's landing them all punches.
02:44 - He's seeing where he can touch them.
02:46 He's always had a really fast left,
02:48 whether it was a hook or the jab,
02:51 which I used to think that that was his best punch,
02:55 was his jab.
02:56 - Good body shot. - Very fast, yeah.
02:57 - Good body shot.
02:58 - Final 30 seconds of the round.
03:01 We'll talk about the experience factor
03:11 firmly in the corner of Juanita Molina.
03:13 It's the first 10-round fight scheduled for Cain Sandoval.
03:21 - 10 seconds. - Stop, stop, stop.
03:23 10 seconds, now stop at the bell, stop at the bell.
03:26 (bell dings)
03:31 Time!
03:31 (crowd cheering)
03:32 One down, nine to go.
03:34 Abel Sanchez, your thoughts on the output of Cain Sandoval,
03:37 and are we seeing a different game
03:39 because the fact that we're scheduled 10 rounds?
03:41 - I think that that's good how he came out.
03:43 I think he came out not respecting so much,
03:46 but understanding what he's got in front of him.
03:47 He's not gonna go all out like he usually does.
03:50 He's gonna measure him, it's a 10-round fight,
03:52 so he's got time to work his magic if that's gonna happen.
03:55 - Roman "Chocolate" Gonzalez,
04:05 multiple Superflyweight Champion in attendance tonight.
04:08 Probably the fight night brings out all the stars,
04:10 and I wasn't kidding when I said earlier
04:13 that we were a hard ticket to get here, said Enes.
04:18 - Absolutely, this is a great day for fans
04:21 because there's so many luminaries from the boxing world
04:24 and boxing people, and before and after the show,
04:28 the corners of these fighters, they're around,
04:31 and if you're a fan, you can go up and talk to them
04:34 and pick their brains and share your enthusiasm
04:38 and hear stories and all that good stuff.
04:40 - I don't think I got that nickname right.
04:41 - No, that was not "Chocolate Tito" Gonzalez.
04:44 That was the fiance trainer/manager of a fighter
04:49 we saw last month in Commerce Casino.
04:55 - I'm Ron Burgundy over here.
04:57 - Yeah.
04:58 - You know what I mean?
04:59 - That's okay.
05:00 - Round two underway.
05:02 - But they are very good friends with Roman "Chocolate Tito" Gonzalez.
05:05 (crowd shouting)
05:08 - Here's the corner of Javier Munoz.
05:18 - That's Javier's brother, Carlos,
05:27 who was a national champion, as Javier was.
05:29 He was a really good professional in his own right.
05:32 (crowd shouting)
05:35 - Stop, stop, let him go.
05:43 Stop, no more punching.
05:44 - Into the clinch.
05:45 - There you go.
05:47 (crowd shouting)
05:49 - Back into the clinch again.
05:57 Referee gonna intervene, separate them back at space.
06:00 Halfway through the second round.
06:03 Abel, if you were in the corner of Molina,
06:15 is this the type of game plan and strategy
06:18 you would have him for implementing against
06:22 a knockout artist to the likes of Fenton?
06:24 - Absolutely.
06:25 Frustrates him.
06:26 Frustrate him as much as you can.
06:27 Let him live the shots with frustration.
06:29 Don't make him go into rounds
06:30 that he's never been in before.
06:32 Use your experience.
06:34 (crowd shouting)
06:37 - There's some volume here for Fenton Navarro.
06:40 They ain't controlling the fire back.
06:43 - I don't want to see him against a rope, so.
06:45 - That's the wrong place for him.
06:46 That's where he will get out hustling.
06:48 - Yeah.
06:49 - Even if he's not eating the shots,
06:50 even if he's blocking most of the punches
06:52 or slipping them, the impression is
06:56 that the other guy is going to work on him.
06:59 And I'll say this, that's probably why
07:02 Robbie Davies Jr. won that fight in London last year,
07:06 or the year before last,
07:07 is because Javier had these moments
07:09 where he went up against the ropes
07:10 and just got out hustled.
07:12 - Listen, out of five, maybe one lands,
07:14 and that's the one that makes the difference, right?
07:18 (crowd shouting)
07:19 - Keep him up, keep him up!
07:20 - A few moments here, round two.
07:25 Up on the left, Sandoval with the body hits
07:28 the head of Molina with that right hand.
07:30 Two down.
07:31 (crowd cheering)
07:34 Take a look at some of the action Doug walks through.
07:47 - And nice jab from Javier Molina,
07:49 but he's allowing Sandoval to back him up,
07:53 and maybe it's because of Sandoval's jab,
07:54 he's not actually landing.
07:56 But once Molina's back is against the ropes,
07:59 Sandoval lets his punches go and bunches.
08:02 We do see spots where Molina fires back
08:05 with one shot at a time.
08:07 - Molina can't let his bravado get in the way.
08:13 He's gonna fight a smart fight.
08:15 He's got a young man that's not as experienced as he is,
08:17 and he needs to use that experience against him.
08:21 - I think he should keep the action
08:23 in the middle of the ring.
08:24 - Orbit, Orbit Sandoval, move around him.
08:27 Get off first with that fast left jab.
08:29 - Round three underway.
08:31 TJ DeSantis, Abel Sanchez, Doug Fisher.
08:34 Again, this is our co-main event.
08:35 The KO King, Cain Sandoval,
08:37 taking on the 2008 Olympian Javier Molina.
08:40 - Stop, let him up, let him up.
08:52 Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop.
08:54 Don't go around, don't turn him around.
08:56 - He's talking about orbiting.
08:58 - Young man has some old man tricks.
09:01 - I don't know why I noticed this,
09:04 but do you see Cain's face a little puffy?
09:08 - Yeah, it does look a little puffy,
09:12 like around the left eye.
09:14 - Yeah, you can see that, it adds color a little bit.
09:20 - Sandoval firing.
09:22 - Molina cannot say that, he's gonna be low down a little bit.
09:28 - Yeah, 'cause Sandoval will give him the old reach line.
09:31 He will burn that liver with body shots.
09:35 - And he's touching him, he's touching him,
09:37 he's touching him and they dig its toll in the 10-minute count.
09:41 Just missed a good right hand.
09:45 (crowd shouting)
09:48 - Halfway point of the third round.
09:59 A lot of volume here by Cain Sandoval.
10:02 - That's what Sandoval is doing right now,
10:13 he is outworking the veteran.
10:15 I don't think Molina's been hurt by any single punch,
10:21 but if he continues to take these kind of shots,
10:26 this many, maybe by the fourth or fifth round,
10:29 it starts to take a toll on his body.
10:31 - Molina landed a nice latte a moment ago.
10:35 - I think Molina's gonna be measured in his output.
10:42 - Yeah, that was a nice left to the body.
10:44 - Yeah, but they don't have the zip that Cain has,
10:48 so a knee lift like that is not gonna make an impression
10:52 on him or a 4-5 that Cain Sandoval's landing
10:55 are gonna wear him down.
10:56 If he's had 4-5 rounds, then it's a different fight.
11:00 - What do you think about the output here of Sandoval?
11:04 Is he too aggressive too early in a 10-round fight?
11:08 - No, I think he's measured,
11:09 I think he's throwing correct punches,
11:10 he's not throwing them to knock somebody out.
11:12 He's landing shots and wearing them down.
11:15 Good combination right there.
11:16 - Yeah, Sandoval is not loading up on all of these shots.
11:20 And he's used to a high volume.
11:21 This is just his normal pace.
11:24 (bell dings)
11:30 - A solid round for Cain Sandoval.
11:34 - I think that's Chocolatito Gonzalez.
11:39 He's trying to hide behind that hood, that hoodie.
11:41 But that's the man, that's a future Hall of Famer right there
11:44 four division champion,
11:46 from straw weight to junior band weight.
11:48 - Yes, Carlos right next to him.
11:49 - Yeah.
11:50 - See what that hood does.
11:51 - So he was in the building.
11:53 - Right.
11:53 - This is a hot ticket, man.
11:55 Greatness is in the building right there.
11:57 - Embracing Omar Trinidad.
12:00 - That's awesome.
12:00 - Round four guys, round four.
12:03 - Chocolatito, a real sweet guy too, real humble guy.
12:06 Very quiet.
12:07 (upbeat music)
12:09 - Nothing but greatness in the ring though.
12:11 The guy who was identified as Chocolatito earlier,
12:15 that's the fiance trainer manager of Brooke Cibrian,
12:20 who we saw fight really good
12:23 in January at the Commerce Casino.
12:26 And they often train with Chocolatito.
12:29 So they in the family.
12:30 - Round four underway,
12:34 again our co-main event, Cain Sandoval
12:35 taking on Javier Molina.
12:37 TJ DeSantis, Abel Sanchez, Doug Fisher.
12:39 Live tonight inside Chumash Casino Resort.
12:42 It is a site of Hollywood fight nights on UFC Fight Pass.
12:45 - I think both guys are pacing themselves well.
12:57 I just think Molina needs to let his hands go
12:59 a little bit more.
13:05 - My guess is Molina wants to take him
13:07 into the second hand,
13:08 and then he'll be starting to open up.
13:11 - You can't give away six rounds,
13:12 trying to do that.
13:13 He's doing well in this round.
13:22 - Sandoval marching him down,
13:28 putting him in the corner.
13:29 Attacking the head and the body.
13:33 Combination of punches.
13:36 - Trying to fire back.
13:38 - Doubled up on that uppercut.
13:44 That's impressive.
13:47 Molina's caging, he's not easy to hit clean.
13:51 But Molina is in the wrong place,
13:55 having his back up against those ropes.
13:57 (crowd shouting)
13:59 - Two men working in close.
14:09 Oh, good body shot.
14:19 - Sandoval doing a good job
14:24 of not just squaring up in front of Molina.
14:27 He's switching his angles a little bit.
14:30 Get off with two or three punches,
14:33 and then pivot.
14:34 Do the same thing from another angle.
14:37 - Let him go, let him go, let him go, let him go.
14:52 - No more punching, no more punching.
14:55 - Three separates the two men.
14:56 30 seconds left in round number four.
14:58 A lot of volume here,
15:17 but all of it blocked here by Molina.
15:19 - 10 seconds, guys, 10!
15:20 (crowd shouting)
15:23 - We're gonna start at the bell!
15:28 (bell dings)
15:29 Time!
15:30 - Four rounds down.
15:31 - PJ, I want to say that if you went into Molina's corner
15:39 and talked to Molina during the rounds,
15:40 if you were able to do that, he'd say,
15:41 "No, he doesn't punch as hard as he thinks he does."
15:43 He'd go crazy, he's not a puncher.
15:45 And I think that's why he's staying where he's staying.
15:47 He doesn't want respect for the punching power,
15:49 and he's not gonna respect the shots.
15:51 He's gonna think he's gonna punch him.
15:53 - He may not respect the punching power,
15:56 but he still needs to earn the younger man's respect.
15:59 And you don't do that by catching punches
16:01 on your gloves and shoulders.
16:02 You need to punch back. - Number five, guys, number five.
16:04 - As he's doing in spots, it's just not enough.
16:07 That was a beautiful left hook to the body landed by Sandoval.
16:13 Molina trying to answer in kind, but not quite landing it.
16:18 - He's got five or six punches, he's landing two,
16:20 but that's not enough.
16:21 [bell dings]
16:28 - All right, our comment event has reached
16:30 round number five, Cain Sandoval and Javier Molina.
16:33 [crowd shouting]
17:01 Taking his time and engaging as Cain Sandoval
17:04 in this fifth round.
17:05 Molina wisely able to get out of that corner.
17:17 Now back on the ropes, circles off.
17:30 Sandoval attacking on the inside,
17:32 going to the body and the head.
17:34 - Sandoval is landing a very good right hand
17:38 right on the belt line on the body.
17:40 He's trying to freeze the legs a little bit,
17:44 and the movement will be less towards the end of the fight.
17:47 For Molina.
17:50 - Yeah, I think it's a really good strategy
17:53 to invest in the body.
17:54 Sandoval's doing it with both hands.
17:59 This round it's the right hand of the body,
18:00 in previous rounds it was the left of the body.
18:03 [bell dings]
18:14 Coach, from your point of view,
18:22 does it look like there's a lot of snap
18:24 or a lot of impact at the end of Molina's punches?
18:27 - No.
18:29 He's not--to me, he's like a George Foreman kind of puncher.
18:32 It's a thudding, heavy hand
18:35 that hasn't been taught how to turn over.
18:37 - Yeah, there are some times where it looks like
18:41 there's an opening for Molina to take,
18:43 and he does take it, but it's almost like
18:44 he sort of pushes the punch back in.
18:46 - Castro, when you saw Castro a couple fights back,
18:51 you heard his--
18:52 you heard and you saw his punches turn over,
18:54 and they landed with a different kind of sound.
18:57 Inside the final 30 seconds of this fifth round.
19:04 - Ten seconds, guys, ten!
19:24 - Five seconds, stop at the bell!
19:25 [bell dings]
19:28 - And we've reached the halfway point of the fight.
19:30 Five down, five to go as we move on in our co-main event.
19:36 Abel, your thoughts.
19:38 - I like the right hand that he's throwing at the body.
19:40 It's getting lower and lower on the belt,
19:43 closer to the hip,
19:45 and really hasn't said nothing about it,
19:46 but continue to throw it until he does.
19:49 As Sandoval's fighting the kind of fight
19:50 that he needs to fight
19:51 against an experienced guy like this.
19:52 - He's got a lot of finger shots,
19:54 not loading up, and he's landing clean.
19:57 - That includes a crispy jab.
20:00 I think his best punch in this previous round,
20:03 round five, was the right hand to the body
20:06 that ended up against the ropes.
20:08 But we're seeing some nice outside action
20:10 with the jab and the straight right from the outside.
20:12 [whistle blows]
20:20 [bell dings]
20:21 - Our co-main event of the evening now,
20:25 officially in the back half of the fight,
20:28 round number six.
20:30 Pen round schedule, Jane Sandoval, Javier Molina,
20:34 TJ DeSantis alongside Abel Sanchez and Doug Fisher.
20:37 Appreciate you joining us again inside Chumash Casino Resort,
20:40 the site of Tom Loughner's Hollywood Fight Nights
20:42 on UFC Fight Pass.
20:44 [crowd shouting]
20:46 - I've got it a shutout so far for young Sandoval.
20:54 I can't imagine the judges see it any different.
20:56 And I can't imagine Team Molina not seeing this.
21:00 - Well, you were talking earlier, Doug,
21:02 about Javier Molina wanting to get this fight
21:04 into the back half.
21:06 We're officially there.
21:07 What are you expecting to do
21:09 in an effort to try to make this
21:12 an advantageous part of his fight?
21:14 - Well, knowing that he's been out-hustled
21:16 for the first five rounds,
21:18 I would think there'd be some sense of urgency
21:21 for Molina to mount offense,
21:24 to really kind of focus on getting off first.
21:29 Maybe it's just with his jab,
21:31 but landing stiff punches that have bad intentions on them,
21:36 the kind of punches that earn a young man's respect,
21:39 back him off a little bit,
21:40 create some space for some more offense.
21:43 [crowd shouting]
21:45 - I think you're right.
21:49 It should be a shutout,
21:50 but you could give Molina
21:54 a little bias the couple rounds.
21:56 Just maybe.
21:58 [crowd shouting]
22:00 - I never say never in professional boxing.
22:09 Sometimes the judges really surprise me.
22:11 [crowd shouting]
22:13 - Give him up a little bit.
22:17 [crowd shouting]
22:19 - Inside the final minute of round number six.
22:29 [crowd shouting]
22:31 - Right hand, right hand.
22:33 [crowd shouting]
22:35 - Punches and bunches there on the inside by Sandoval.
22:48 [crowd shouting]
22:50 - Snapping that jab.
22:52 [crowd shouting]
22:54 - And so far, Sandoval doesn't look like he's getting winded.
22:59 He's fighting at a comfortable pace.
23:01 [crowd shouting]
23:03 - He seems relaxed.
23:04 - Staying busy.
23:06 - He's got the head movement,
23:07 a little bit of upper body movement.
23:09 Nice combinations here and there.
23:11 [crowd shouting]
23:13 - Ten seconds, guys, again.
23:19 Ten seconds. Stop at the bell.
23:21 [crowd shouting]
23:23 Five seconds, guys. Stop at the bell. Stop!
23:27 - Two rounds down, four to go.
23:29 Our co-main event here of Hollywood Fight Nights.
23:32 [crowd shouting]
23:34 Inside the corner of Kane Sandoval.
23:39 [crowd shouting]
23:41 Coach, anything you would like to see from Sandoval?
23:43 I mean, we talk about how this fight is firmly kind of in his control, dictating the pace.
23:48 What adjustments, if any, would you make here as we go into the next round?
23:51 - Really no adjustments, but right now we've been pointing a fight against an experienced veteran like this.
23:56 Sandoval has to try something different.
23:58 Sandoval has to be that finisher that eventually he's going to need to be.
24:04 He's got a perfect canvas in front of him.
24:07 He's doing everything that he wants to do, but it's too monotonous to do the same thing over and over again.
24:11 I think this is where he has to raise the level a little bit.
24:13 Just give it a try. Maybe two, three instances in a row.
24:17 - And you like his output, the way he's had the controlled aggression, not getting overzealous at any point?
24:24 - Absolutely. He's doing everything correct.
24:26 He's not loading up on anything. He doesn't seem to be winded.
24:29 But let's see if you're going to be that star that you're claiming you're going to be.
24:38 - Don't forget our main event right around the corner.
24:50 Christian Marician takes on Quinton Randall for the vacant WBC Continental America's Welterweight Championship.
24:56 A little back in the corner once again.
25:05 Able to get out of there, but staying on top of him is a Sacramento native,
25:10 the KO King, Kane Sandoval.
25:13 - That was a moment, TD, in this corner right here where that's what I was talking about.
25:19 Just pick up the pressure on him.
25:22 - Again, back up to the ropes in the middle.
25:35 Still firing back as the Olympian, but Sandoval staying on top of him with volume.
25:45 - I think Sandoval has picked up his pace just a little bit in this round 7.
25:50 If not the pace, then just the sheer output.
25:55 - I'm talking about a sprint.
25:57 - He's not there yet. - A real quick sprint.
25:59 - A sprint in every round.
26:01 - I think he has picked up his stride.
26:05 [crowd shouting]
26:08 - One minute remains here in round number 7.
26:27 - They're both getting a little in tight.
26:34 [crowd shouting]
26:37 - Nice right hand.
27:00 - Momentage by Sandoval getting the crowd to come alive here inside Chumont.
27:04 - The winner with a nice right hand does not dissuade Sandoval, though.
27:13 - Final 10 seconds of the round.
27:27 - 7 rounds of action in the books.
27:30 Here's the opponent of MK Sandoval, Javier Molina.
27:33 - Doug Fisher, your thoughts on what you saw unfold during that 7th round?
27:39 - I like that Sandoval picked it up a little bit.
27:42 I think he threw a lot of punches.
27:45 In doing so, he left himself open for some choice shots from Molina, but he seemed to take them all.
27:50 - You can't work on him. You can't work on him.
27:53 - Looks like the ringside physician is taking a look at Javier Molina.
27:57 - He's concerned about all the punches he's been taking.
28:00 - Dr. Gburg with the referee.
28:09 - I think the majority of the punishment that Molina has taken has been to his midsection.
28:22 - Coach, how do you feel about that strategy of Sandoval to sort of punish the body of Molina?
28:26 - I think he's picked up the pace like Dougie said.
28:29 He's not as infected. I don't think he's as infected now that he wasn't in the early rounds.
28:33 He didn't always pick up the pace.
28:35 But the body shots, you always have to practice that.
28:38 Molina has shown that he can take a shot on top.
28:41 So, yeah, practice your body shots.
28:43 He's throwing a good right-handed body and a good left-handed body.
28:45 So, the uppercut is going to be an effective punching.
28:48 - Now, I agree.
28:50 - Seven down, three to go.
28:57 The eighth round underway.
28:59 Again, our co-main event, Sugar Cane Sandoval out of Sacramento, California,
29:03 taking on the 2008 Olympian and Javier Molina.
29:07 - Come on, Javier!
29:09 - Javier, get your arm in!
29:11 - Javier!
29:13 - Face! Face!
29:15 - TJ, the reason I say that the uppercut is because he's thrown everything wide so far.
29:29 So, now you're going to have to go inside and make sure you make him close his--
29:33 close it up to block that to be able to be effective with a--with a hook on top.
29:37 - The aggressor again here, Sandoval, in this eighth round.
29:50 There's Molina back.
29:56 Molina wide, unable to get out of the corner.
30:01 - Right hand, a little up by Sandoval.
30:04 Now coming forward with that jab.
30:10 - Sandoval is looking for that uppercut that you have in your output.
30:25 It does seem like he's lost a little bit of steam in his shots.
30:28 He could be feeling fatigued.
30:30 - What happens, though, is you throw so many outside shots with both hands up,
30:34 now you need to make him close up his--
30:36 close up his hands instead of holding the knee as he amounts.
30:39 So you close him up, now you're going to be more effective with the outside shots.
30:42 - Molina seems more comfortable with some return fire, finally.
30:49 - Yeah, Molina threw an uppercut, and Sandoval closed his hands
30:52 and then hit him with a little hook right after the uppercut.
30:55 Power's not there.
30:58 - Yeah, that short right cross may have stunned Molina.
31:17 - 37 seconds in.
31:22 30 seconds left in this eighth round.
31:27 Fire in the body, he goes high to the head.
31:35 It's James Sandoval.
31:37 Final moments of the eighth.
31:48 [crowd cheering]
31:51 [bell dings]
31:55 - Time!
31:56 - Eight down, two to go.
32:00 Your thoughts, is fatigue playing a factor here now in the part of James Sandoval?
32:07 - I think fatigue is playing a factor on Molina's part.
32:10 I think that the corner has to keep a very sharp eye on the corner
32:13 because I see him not stumbling,
32:16 not really--he's not stepping all the time.
32:19 And that just shows fatigue in the legs.
32:20 And maybe all those body shots.
32:22 And Kane tried the uppercut.
32:25 He's got to continue to try it just to, like I said,
32:27 to close him up and be able to hit him on top.
32:30 But fatigue is a Molina sign.
32:33 - Doug, what do you expect in these final two rounds of this fight?
32:39 - You know, I'm not quite sure.
32:41 I would want to see the young up-and-comer
32:45 step on the gas and empty the tank.
32:48 But I also understand Sandoval having never been this far in a fight,
32:54 having never fought a round 9 or a round 10,
32:57 also wanting to pace himself,
32:59 wanting to make sure that, you know, he can finish strong.
33:02 But I'd like to see him step it up.
33:04 I'd like to see him, you know, attempt to overwhelm the veteran.
33:07 - Yeah, close the show.
33:12 - This is the 28th fight of Javier Molina's career.
33:15 He's never been stopped.
33:18 It would be quite the feather in the cap of Kane Sandoval
33:20 if he was the first to do so.
33:23 Now, that would be a statement.
33:29 - You see Molina--you see--I'm sorry, Sandoval shaking his arms.
33:33 They're a little heavy right now.
33:40 - The snap has gone out of him a little bit.
34:07 - A little volume here from Sandoval.
34:10 - Yeah, he's kept his volume.
34:14 It's just the impact of the shots that's dropped off.
34:17 - And I know Molina had a good camp.
34:27 I know he had enough time to prepare
34:29 and take the weight off responsibly.
34:32 But I also wonder, at his age,
34:35 you know, in his mid-30s,
34:37 if making 140 pounds just isn't right for him anymore.
34:41 I don't want to say he was listless in this fight,
34:46 but I don't think that he had any confidence
34:49 as far as, like, mounting a real offense.
34:51 It's kind of like he's just--
34:53 he's kind of in reserve the whole time.
34:56 - He hasn't come out of second year yet, I guess.
35:01 - Yeah, but maybe, like you mentioned before,
35:05 maybe he wanted to take this kid into later rounds,
35:08 and that tactic was not as effective as he thought it was.
35:11 - Yeah, you know, there's a saying, though,
35:13 that sometimes a fighter leaves the fight on the scale.
35:16 And I wonder if that was the case
35:18 or partially the case here with Javier Molina.
35:21 'Cause he was able to take the kid deep,
35:24 but he was never able to take advantage of it.
35:27 At least not yet.
35:30 - And even though he had a long training camp,
35:32 maybe maintaining that weight was not the smartest thing.
35:36 - Big shots here by Sandoval.
35:45 Final ten seconds of round number nine.
35:47 [bell dings] - Time!
35:59 - Nine rounds down in our co-main event.
36:01 Cain Sandoval, Javier Molina.
36:04 Gotta believe if you're in the corner of Molina,
36:09 it's go for broke.
36:11 - Yeah, I mean, it's a shutout on my scorecard.
36:14 90 to 81 after nine rounds.
36:17 - What are we learning about Cain Sandoval?
36:22 I mean, his first ten-round fight through nine rounds,
36:25 he looks largely like the guy who's picked up 11 knockouts.
36:28 He's a little more composed, a little more reserved,
36:30 which you would expect.
36:31 He's in there with a former Olympian,
36:33 a guy who's been the distance under the bright lights
36:36 of the sport of boxing.
36:37 I think Sandoval's looking pretty great
36:39 in the great position he's entering this final round.
36:41 - I think it's a mature performance.
36:43 It's a measured performance.
36:45 I do, I like his form, I like the output.
36:49 We are seeing that he's, you know, he's tight.
36:52 And who knows, some of that could be mental.
36:54 [bell dings]
36:55 Oh, gosh, I mean, uncharted waters.
36:58 - For the first time in my professional career,
37:01 maybe the next time he fights a ten-rounder,
37:03 he'll have more confidence to step on the gas
37:06 more over the second half of the bout.
37:08 - See how much he steps on that gas pedal here
37:12 in this tenth and final round.
37:14 [crowd shouting]
37:17 - Attacking that body again is Sandoval.
37:37 He's been attacking throughout the fight.
37:39 [crowd shouting]
37:42 - I think a strong body attack is always a good tactic
37:48 against an older fighter.
37:50 - Yeah, I'm gonna say impressed,
37:53 but I like the fact that he's been able to control
37:56 a seasoned veteran like this as well as he has.
38:00 Maybe not land that big bomb,
38:03 because it's hard to do it against a guy like Hiram Lehman
38:05 who's never been stopped,
38:06 but he's been able to do the things that
38:08 maybe they're practicing in the gym,
38:10 and it's a good learning for him.
38:12 [crowd shouting]
38:15 [crowd shouting]
38:18 - Sandoval still focused.
38:43 He's got his reflexes shown a little bit more
38:46 in the way of nimbleness, you know,
38:49 in the footwork in this bout,
38:51 this match that I'm used to seeing from him.
38:53 - Very controlled.
38:56 Inside the final minute of the fight.
38:59 That's into the body by Sandoval.
39:03 Linda trying to answer.
39:05 See how much Sandoval's gonna let it all hang out here
39:09 in the final 45 seconds.
39:11 I think that the body punches have been Sandoval's
39:14 best weapon during this 10-rounder.
39:16 - Confident here of Sandoval.
39:22 - There you go, there you go, there you go.
39:23 - 30 seconds left of the fight.
39:25 - No punching, no punching. Let's go, guys. Come on.
39:27 Let's go.
39:28 [crowd shouting]
39:32 - Give me that one up, Bobby.
39:34 That one up, Bobby.
39:37 - Come on.
39:41 Let's go.
39:42 - Come on, come on.
39:44 - Covering up.
39:45 It's a hard right hand, as Molina.
39:47 - Stop with the bounce. Stop with the bounce.
39:52 [bell dings]
39:55 - Unable to get the knockout stoppage,
39:57 but a professional performance to be proud of.
40:00 Cain Sandoval.
40:02 Really dictated the pace of the fight,
40:04 controlled all of the ebbs and flows
40:07 and the action and the output,
40:08 and while he's not able to get his 12th straight win
40:12 by knockout, this one might be one of the bigger statements
40:15 of his career, if not the biggest statement of his career.
40:18 - It was a good fight for him.
40:19 It was a perfect opponent.
40:21 I was hesitant in praising him at the beginning
40:25 as far as the opponent,
40:26 but good choice by the matchmaker,
40:28 good choice by Tom Lofter.
40:30 This is a learning experience for Sandoval.
40:32 It's gonna benefit him in the future.
40:34 - Yeah, 10 rounds.
40:35 He's got his first 10-rounder under his belt.
40:39 His KO streak ends,
40:41 and maybe that's a good thing as well
40:43 as far as his fighter's identity.
40:44 He knows, "Okay, I'm not a knockout artist.
40:47 I'm a boxer-puncher."
40:49 And he certainly is.
40:52 - A true professional is Cain Sandoval.
40:56 As he puts on a show inside Chumash Casino Resort
40:59 here in tonight's co-main event.
41:02 Coming up next, our main event,
41:05 WBC Continental Americas Welterweight Championship
41:08 will be on the line as the Armenian Gorye Ritsin
41:11 takes on the Texas native and quick-draw Quinton Randle.
41:15 10 rounds of boxing scheduled next in our main event.
41:18 Judges tallying up their 10s and 9s,
41:20 but spoiler alert if you just joined us,
41:23 Cain Sandoval was workmanlike in his performance.
41:27 Solid bit of work turned in by the Sacramento native
41:31 as he took on the former Olympian and hobby-air Molina.
41:35 Molina never been finished in his career.
41:37 He keeps that record intact tonight.
41:40 And Cain Sandoval definitely had to be measured
41:45 in his approach.
41:46 He was that over the course of 10 rounds.
41:51 And we expect to get his hand raised
41:53 in a very big way here in just a few moments.
41:56 All right, the judges have tallied their 10s and 9s
41:58 for our official decision.
42:00 We go inside the ring to Matthew Perino.
42:02 - Ladies and gentlemen, after 10 rounds of action,
42:09 we go to the judges' scorecards for decision.
42:13 All three judges scored this contest,
42:16 100 to 90 for your winner
42:19 by unanimous decision
42:22 and still undefeated,
42:25 Cain Sandoval!
42:29 - Big win for Cain Sandoval.
42:33 As he's now 12 and 0,
42:36 he gets his hand raised in our Komen event
42:38 here at Hollywood Fight Night.
42:40 He will speak to our Doug Fisher.
42:42 [cheers and applause]
42:45 [MUSIC]
