00:00 A key witness in Lim Guaneng's corruption trial said he never mentioned paying kickbacks
00:07 to the former Penang Chief Minister in a WhatsApp conversation with a fellow businessman.
00:13 Businessman Zahro Ahmad Zulkifli told the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court that he only mentioned
00:18 handing out chocolates, a quote from Money, to G. Nana Raja.
00:22 He also said he did not tell Nana Raja to pass the chocolates to Lim or another person
00:27 known as Big Boss.
00:30 Zahro said he told the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission officers that he gave Nana Raja
00:35 a total of RM4 million in 2017.
00:38 However, Lim's lawyer Haijan Omar disputed his claim, saying the businessman had created
00:44 the narrative out of convenience, a suggestion Zahro dismissed.
00:48 Lim was accused of using his position as Penang Chief Minister to ask Zahro for a 10% cut
00:54 of the profits from a roads and tunnel project in Penang.
00:58 The former finance minister is also accused of seeking RM3.3 million in kickbacks to appoint
01:04 Zahro's company to undertake the project.
