00:00 Just to get a reward for it, you rarely get them in your career.
00:08 And this one feels as good as it gets, it's unbelievable really.
00:12 When Jamie scored his second goal and your second goal, what was that feeling like?
00:15 Because obviously when they pulled it back to 1-0 we thought we might be doing it on Tuesday.
00:18 Yeah, to be fair, Royston, I thought they were really good today.
00:22 They probably dominated the midfield, which we haven't.
00:26 We've dominated every midfield all year, that's been probably our strongest part of the team, I'd say.
00:32 And I thought they were excellent today.
00:36 This year, 2024 in particular, we've just ground out results.
00:40 We haven't played that well, loads of people say, but we don't concede many.
00:44 And this year we've been scoring a lot, so credit to the lads, it worked great, everything's on top.
00:49 For you, who have obviously been at the club for such a long time, what does it mean to take it in the lockout?
00:54 Like I said earlier, I'm an emotional person anyway, when you watch me play I'm high, I'm low, I'm at the lot.
01:01 So, I don't know, I didn't think I'd get emotional, but five minutes before the end you know you're there.
01:09 And that takes over, I don't know what to say about it really, in some real.
01:13 When you're celebrating with the fans as well, obviously pulling Kev over, lifting him up,
01:17 celebrating with these brilliant fans as well, it's been a fantastic season, bringing their drum down
01:21 and really spurring you boys on, what's that feeling like?
01:24 Yeah, that's unreal as well. The young lads have come home in a way, a good group of them,
01:30 all year, and they bang the drum all over Midlands.
01:35 And it's so good to do it. And then you've got also the volunteers like Jerry, your Kens, your Crackers, Davids,
01:44 I can't remember them all, but they do so much at the club and mean so much to them.
01:51 And I didn't probably realise that until last week at Hitchin, when I spoke to Cracker,
01:56 and you realise he's given 70 years to the club, 60 years or whatever, and we're here at step two.
02:02 Two promotions off Football League, which obviously is a massive jump, but that's better than six.
02:09 What's Kev said to you in there when he came?
02:12 They haven't said anything. I haven't even seen him to be honest.
02:19 It's just ridiculous, the emotion is unbelievable. All the lads are the same, everyone in different ways.
02:27 The payoff is unreal.
02:29 Kev came into the club in the summer of 2019, a couple of seasons where they were abandoned,
02:34 a couple of seasons sort of mid-table, lower finishes. When you came into the season,
02:38 when did you start to believe that it could be possible?
02:41 If you ask me, I'm pessimistic. I started to believe probably at the start of March.
02:48 Because all season, Mickalow were flying with the league, and they kept saying,
02:53 "We're capturing Mickalow." I was like, "What are you worrying about Mickalow for?
02:56 They've already won the league." And that was in October or whatever.
03:01 And then all of a sudden, it was just a blur. We were eight points clear at the top of the league,
03:07 I don't even know how that was possible, to be honest. We've just won so many important games.
03:13 We thought we'd have a tough patch, we had a few teams in the top six, and we just batted.
03:22 Telford, really good side, we beat them, they went on a 17-game win streak, then we beat them again.
03:28 And that's just ridiculous. I just never thought Little Village, this little club,
03:33 people probably come here and think, "What the hell? Little Village driving a bus in here?"
03:37 We're playing teams at Telford. From Telford, you get off the bus and you walk to the changing room,
03:42 you probably walk round Needham twice, because the stadium's so big.
03:45 And then here, it's just ridiculous when you think of the scale of it.
03:50 When you're captain of the side, best defence in the league, your defence has been absolutely unbelievable,
03:55 scoring goals was fun as well. Just a word on your squad and being captain on the side.
03:59 Ings is much better than I am. He's got a good view on that, Luke Ingram.
04:06 He said this year, "We've always been close, we've obviously been down in the league,
04:11 but we've always had a good base in the team, but we just missed goals,
04:16 or the results just wouldn't go for us sometimes."
04:20 We've been lucky, we have been lucky at times.
04:23 Levington away, Springsteen away, we were terrible, but we won 2-1.
04:29 All the lads just work great. Jacob Leigh, Tevin, legs, Hammy midfield, legs.
04:35 Jamie McGrath was literally step 8 two years ago, and he's just got a hat-trick to send the team into step 2.
04:41 I just think that's unbelievable, it's just ridiculous.
04:46 And the boss, Kevin, just a few words on him, how good he is.
04:50 I've known Kevin a long time, I wouldn't even be, not just a player I am, but me as a person.
04:56 Kevin just brought something out of me when I was 17 years old.
05:02 I just don't know what it was, I just changed as a person.
05:05 And that's done Kevin, and he gave me a chance years ago.
05:09 And when he came back to the club, obviously I was familiar straight away.
05:13 He just relaxes everyone. Before him, we'd go and play these big games we've had the last three years.
05:21 And you'd think we were playing a pre-season friendly, some stuff he says in the changing room beforehand.
05:26 And it just relaxes everyone, he just takes the edge off.
