Bury Town manager Cole Skuse gives his dugout reflections to sports editor Russell Claydon on a 1-1 home draw with Cambridge City which saw his title-chasing side concede an equaliser in the 96th minute at Ram Meadow.

00:00Cole, obviously a late twist against your side here with that late goal that you conceded.
00:09Did you feel it was coming or what was your view of the game?
00:11No, my view of the game is you cannot be that dominant for a 90-minute spell. I say 90 minutes,
00:20that's slightly unfair on them. They probably had a 5-6-minute spell towards the latter
00:24part of the game, which you will do if you're chasing. We've dangled a little carrot at
00:28the very, very end of the game because I'd love to have stats on today's fixture. I'd
00:33love to have stats, not from a possession standpoint, but if you want to use modern
00:40terminology like final third entries and clear-cut chances. I don't think you can pass up as
00:49many as we did and then be overly frustrated and angry after with the outcome of conceding
00:57a late goal, if that makes sense in any way, shape or form. You cannot miss as many as
01:02we did. When I say miss, clear, cut chance. This isn't individualised towards the two
01:08boys that played at the top because it wasn't them in the slightest. They don't get involved
01:12in a couple of chances, but as a collective, as a group, I would probably be doing an incredibly
01:21good job. If I was to say we missed 15 clear-cut chances within their 18-yard box, I think
01:31I'd still be being kind. To concede in a manner in which we concede, which is avoidable. Individual
01:37mistakes happen in football, I get it. My elements of frustration are towards the, I'm
01:42not going to say negligence, but let's just say the missed chances in the top end of the
01:48pitch have ultimately undone us today.
01:51Yes, and some not-nice scenes at the end as well. Obviously, they're celebrating that
01:58equaliser and things have spilled over a little bit.
02:02Yes, of course. I get it. Celebrating a goal in the last minute of a game, absolutely fine.
02:08You celebrate your goal, you celebrate your goal on the pitch, done. Never an issue. But
02:15then for members of their staff, and I say their staff because I know all our staff are
02:19in the changing room listening to a talk that we're having, you get members of their staff
02:24and you can hear it. We're blessed in the sense that our changing rooms aren't massive,
02:29the walls are paper-thin, you can hear Ney on everything. To hear some of the stuff that
02:33some of our fellas are shouting, it really sours your taste. To be involved with, it's
02:40not to beat around the bush. There's guys that sit behind the dugout in the main stand
02:44that have been coming for a long, long time and they're of a mature age, they don't need
02:50to be shouted at in the manner in which they're shouted at. I'm coming across like it's slightly
02:56sour, not in the slightest. But to hear the stuff that you're hearing and for them to
03:01be acting the way they're acting, it's not my position to put them down, I'm not with
03:04members of staff. I'm not too keen on all that, to be honest.
03:10Back-to-back home games, you will have gone into these games today and then Tilbury at
03:17home next Saturday, thinking a real chance to get a good points return on the board.
03:24So obviously the biggest feeling must be frustration that you mentioned having not done it today.
03:30Yeah, not so much with the result because there's going to be loads of twists and turns
03:32in the latter part of the season, there always is. It's more with, like I said, the manner
03:39that they have some really, really good stuff, really good stuff within the game. Bottom
03:42end of the pitch, tremendous. Charlie, really, really good. Back three, incredibly good.
03:49Mid-part of the pitch, we played some real good stuff. To progress like we did in the
03:54smooth manner in which we did to get to the top end of the pitch, really, really good.
03:59Then that little bit of care where you get all the best players in the world that earn
04:04all the best money in the world because they have got that sort of fire and ice. They can
04:07play at a real, real tempo, but as soon as they get to that top end, they're so cold
04:10and so cold and composed. We didn't have it today. So that's where my frustration is.
04:15I'm not worried about the... Of course, it would have been lovely to pick up the three
04:18points and keep us right in that sort of mess at the top end of the table, but that's...
04:24It will be there or thereabouts coming into the season. It's going to be incredibly tight.
04:27There will be points dropped everywhere as there was today. So we'll see.
04:32OK, thanks very much.
