00:00 Well, come on now to a story that was broken in the Telegraph midweek, and that is of Joel
00:07 Linton, of course, a player we haven't seen since the Weartime Derby on the 6th of January
00:11 when he was injured. I think it was his thigh, his quad. A bit of a freak injury given he
00:17 was just going to strike the ball and Nazari Rousan of Sunderland just gives him a little
00:20 shove and it clearly just tweaks it. It was a really unfortunate injury. And of course,
00:25 he's gone for surgery since and we haven't seen him. There's a chance we might see him
00:29 before the end of the season, but I think that just depends on if he's desperately needed
00:33 and how fit he is and how quick his comeback is, to be honest. But the news is that he
00:38 is set to sign a new contract. Luke Edwards reporting that in the Telegraph and, Jordan,
00:43 that'll be like a new signing, really, won't it? Yeah, it will be because you look to the
00:48 summer and it almost saves Newcastle going out and having to spend money on a midfielder,
00:55 I feel like, because Eddie Hall admitted himself that if Joe Linton wasn't to sign a new contract
01:00 then there's a possibility he would be sued this summer. Obviously, considering PSR rules,
01:05 etc., when Newcastle have paid a club record £40 million for a player that you lose for
01:12 free doesn't make sense in the PSR world. So, Newcastle would be under pressure to sell
01:17 Joe Linton if he wasn't to sign a new contract. But, yeah, it sounds like all things are pointing
01:21 in the right direction, positive talks over the last few weeks. I think Joe Linton has
01:27 always wanted to stay here. For me, I don't think, for as much as it's been a little bit
01:31 uncertain, I've never felt like he was going to leave. I think you only have to look at
01:36 the way he's progressed. The transformation of Joe Linton at Newcastle has been incredible.
01:41 I don't think there's many players in Premier League history who have had that turnaround
01:45 that Joe Linton's had, from a number 9 flop to a combative midfielder. It's quite the
01:53 turnaround. So, you look at the way he's transformed, yeah, even his family, his Instagram, his
02:01 family love it, yeah. He seems like a very settled man. I don't think he would want to
02:08 leave and, as I say by the sounds of it, Joe Linton will be staying, which is massive,
02:13 to get him back and to have his future looking like it's going to be tied down is a massive,
02:19 massive boost. He's established himself as a really important player and the hold-up
02:28 over Joe Linton's contract was the wages side of things. He feels like he's put himself
02:33 in a position where he should be one of the club's highest earners and, to be fair, can
02:38 anyone really argue with that? The transformation from Newcastle going from relegation candidates
02:46 to top four in the space of, well, 12 months, essentially 18 months. He was a big part of
02:54 that. So, I think he's demanded the wage he feels he's entitled to.
